Phenomenal. I took my 5 yr-old Doberman to Juan De Fuca Vet Clinic for the first time to address what I thought was a torn ligament in his hindquarter. Dr. Gayfer saw K.O. and immediately brought him in for x-rays. He went over the x-rays with me informing me of the different issues occurring in his hind leg, including the development of an incredibly aggressive type of cancer. I was absolutely devastated to say the least. He and his staff were exceptional in showing compassion to our situation, and guided me through my options, and the next steps. Upon leaving, Dr Gayfer even offered to personally help get K.O. into the car. Over the next few days, I discussed amputating the leg and putting K.O. on chemo with Dr. Gayfer. He called me between my home and work, went over the costs (openly and honestly, which was greatly appreciated), and the fact that there was no guarantee of time. He advised me do an additional xray to ensure the cancer had not spread. He booked us in immediately. He sent the x-rays off to a specialist to ensure K.O. was cancer free in his lungs. Again, he called me personally to let me know the results came back clear and his amputation was booked. Dr. Gayfer and his staff were incredibly helpful, informative and treated our delicate case with sensitivity and empathy. The day after the surgery, both Dr. Gayfer and his on-site Technician called me separately to check in on K.O., and after viewing several photos I had emailed, Dr. Gayfer arranged his technician to personally drop off medication to my home. Later that evening, Dr. Gayfer called again, from his home, on his day off, to request to see K.O. to ensure his discomfort was being fully addressed. He opened up his clinic at 5:00pm that very evening, which happened to be Christmas Eve and did all that he could to help my dog. Regardless of my K.O.’s success on his treatment plan, I know he is being treated by the best veterinary team. I couldn’t speak more highly of Juan De Fuca Vet Clinic’s professionalism, expertise, and above all else commitment to the well-being of animals. They are everything a vet should be and I would without question, recommend their clinic to any animal lover. Thank you for all you have done for my family!

I find the vets and their support staff to be very caring and knowledgeable. I have always felt that they have the best interest of my dogs health in the fore front. Front desk staff are friendly and helpful. Pretty much everything one would want in a veterinarian office. My dog Bailey is in love with the cookies and Nelly. Carol Sykes

As one of the owners and veterinarians on staff at the Juan de Fuca Veterinary Clinic, I would like to encourage anyone with feedback, positive or negative to post it here. However, I would urge people not to abuse this format with exaggeration or untruths. We have an experienced staff of veterinarians and in the summer of 2010 had our first intern. We practice to the highest standards of care. Our reception staff do an excellent job of ensuring clients and pets have minimal waiting time before being examined by a veterinarian. In 2009 we were voted #2 for the Best in Victoria and in 2010 were voted 1st in the City. We have been providing Veterinary Care in Greater Victoria since 1981, and have established a loyal and trusting clientelle. We always accept new clients and provide a comprehensive medical and surgical facility including Behavioural problems and diagnostic ultrasound and endoscopy.
