I am raising a calf that was born prematurely and could not nurse from the mom. There aren't many vets around that still see livestock. A friend had mentioned Dr. Berry, so I called the office and explained the situation. The lady who answered transferred me immediately to Dr. Berry and he was very helpful over the phone. He said I could bring the calf in or do the things he suggested and see how he did. I decided to take him to the vet that day. He spent a good bit of time educating me on what to do and what to expect. He examined the calf and gave him a shot and some pills to take. I expected the fee would be very high considering the amount of time he spent with me both over the phone and in person, but it was only $33!! He and his staff were very friendly and very helpful. The calf is now 5 weeks old and getting stronger by the day. Thanks to Dr. Berry and his staff!!
I have nothing good at all to say about Dr. Berry. We took our cat to him after he spent the night at an ER vet. He was diagnosed at the ER vet with feline diabetes and received insulin and also an IV to rehydrate him. We picked him up from the ER vet and took him to Dr. Berry's after he spent the night with the ER vet. We asked Dr. Berry if he was equipped to handle a situation like this and he said yes. He left our cat unattended during the 24 hour critical timeframe without checking his blood glucose levels and giving insulin when needed. The next day he insisted that we bring him home. When we went to pick him up he told us that as long as we could get him to eat, he would be fine (and I have a witness to him saying this). After spending a night at home with us, he refused to eat so we syringed him with food. When I called Dr. Berry to tell him this, he told me at that time that they told me the day before he would not make it and if he was no better by Monday morning to bring him in and they would put him to sleep. I was not pleased with that answer so we took him to another vet. By this time, he was extremely jaundice as his liver was failing from not eating. The new vet we took him to had to put a feeding tube in him. After three weeks at that vet being fed through a feeding tube and close monitoring, he came home with us and now is a very happy, healthy, diabetic kitty who needs very little insulin to sustain his blood glucose levels. Dr. Berry does not care about the animals he treats and is only in it for the money. I have had many many other people tell me that they have taken their animals to him only to have them be put to sleep. Please rethink your decision to take your animals to this vet. He may be fine for large animals, i.e., horses, cows, etc. but I would NEVER take my cat or dog to him if he was the last place on earth!
