I have used them for years. My little shy dog jumps in several of the staff arms when I drop him off for boarding. He doesn't leave my arms for anyone but the wife until now. Great staff, love animals. Daughter rather drive dogs up from Mobile to use them than try to find another. James Stockton
I absolutely love West Gate! I have had nothing but great experiences with them. The staff is always nice and I have used both vets there and was impressed with both of them. They are both wonderful! Both times that my pets had to have surgery, a staff member from the vet always called the day after to check on my pets. They always send emails thanking me for visiting and even sent an email wishing my cat a Happy Birthday on his birthday! I highly recommend them to anyone in the Fort Rucker area looking for a vet. They truly care about your pets.
Vet did nice job, but I was told I shouldn't come see my dog after his surgery, to prevent him moving around. Then when my boyfriend went to pick him up the next day, the receptionist took out her phone and showed him a picture of her and two other girls posing with my dog AFTER his surgery. THEN I am in the pet store (with my dog) and am approached by a random woman asking me if my dog was at west gate vet yesterday. I reply yes, then she says "I thought that was him I was sent the picture of!" These people are super unprofessional and have no respect for privacy. Also, the sutures come out last night and the wound was split open, so we called to ask what we needed to do. The girl that answered the phone immediately hit offensive mode and started saying that she knew the sutures were done right, and it wasn't their fault. We just wanted to know when we needed to bring him in to get it fixed, but she was too busy trying to swipe the blame off instead of trying to help us. Stay away from this place until they replace their crappy employees!
I am very pleased and happy to report I have finally gotten to speak with the actual vet themself and our problems are now resolved. I will retract my past review and apologize for the fact that I acted in haste to this situation. I shouldn't have written that the vet's were to blame, as they were not, however I do feel (my honest opinion) that receptionists and assistants should not be left to give answers to questions that they are not qualified to answer and should be held accountable for the way they treat people. I will now be receiving my dog's xray's so we can continue her treatment. It is a bit disconcerting that it takes a bad review to change people's views, and again I apologize, the vet's were wonderful at this facility and the boarding was exceptional (they put up with me calling in and checking on my baby a lot), but I kind of feel that a personal call from the vet themselves instead of letting a receptionist handle all of the correspondance would be more optimal. We suffered from a miscommunication on both ends. So in short, I wrote a bad review and got good results finally, that may make me a bad person, but I am GOING to take care of my animals.
