Helena Vet Clinic is amazing! We have been taking our 3 dogs there for about 5 years. One of our fur babies recently passed away in am emergency situation and they were outstanding. They love your pets like they are their own.
This weekend I brought in a 1-year-old weim mix for a simple nail trimming. They brought it to my attention that he was not being cooperative and would need to be sedated. We passed on this at the moment to discuss the $150 fee they were asking. They did let me know they were able to get his back paws trimmed. Upon returning home, we found that they completely broke one of our dog's back nails. Not just broke, but practically tore it out of the nail bed. It's sitting 90 degrees from where it's supposed to be. It doesn't take a genius to think this through...if this was the first nail they tried to cut...then of course he acted out the rest of the time. He was hurt! If it was the last nail they tried to cut and he had been acting so bad to begin with, why didn't they stop? And...you're telling me you didn't know you hurt him that badly??? How can this happen and you not see it? Today, he is at another vet who was able to examine him without any sort of sedation. The nail that was injured by Helena Veterinary Clinic will now cost me $200 to fix. Helena Veterinary Clinic's response to this...it's my fault. I should have practiced with him daily to get him used to having his nails trimmed. The most ignorant comment ever made.
I love love love this vet. the doctor got on the floor and played with my dog and was so personal with her. I have never seen that in my life from a vet; I loved how all the staff members were playing with her in the other room. I could tell by hearing people call her name and one guy was supposedly wrestling around with her. The staff members are passionate about their job and my animal. This was my first visit to this vet and I fell in love. I am moving to Jacksonville Florida and the doctor knows some doctors down there, she took my number down to call me on the names of vets I could go to. I wish I would have found this clinic earlier, not right before I was moving. If you care about your animals like a child i HIGHLY recommend Helena veterinary clinic.
You can tell a lot about the character of the doctors and the people who work in an office by the way they react to an emergency situation. We had an emergency with our elderly dog today and when we called the office, they were not compassionate and seemed bothered by the fact we were having an emergency. I don't expect anyone to stop everything when something happens to one of my animals but when an animal is very old and becomes short of breath and semi responsive, you'd at least think the vet office that you call would at least sound like they care even if they don't. In a brief phone call, it was obvious that the person who answered was not concerned, sympathetic, or compassionate. Luckily, there is another office that we were able to contact, be seen, and send our sweet angel to Heaven within an hour. She was almost gone when we called your office and were told you could see us in about 2 hours like it was just some routine vet visit. I hope that the next time an emergency happens and someone needs help from you in an emergency situation that you'll at least pretend to care even if you don't.
