We have 3 dogs that go to Flint River Animal Hospital for care, grooming and sometimes doggy daycare. Great people and service everytime. Highly recommend FRAH!
Dr. Lowe and the staff of Flint River Animal Hospital are top notch! They delivered compassionate, consistent and knowledgeable care every single time we've been there. We moved here from out out of state a few years ago and our German Shepherd was a senior with multiple issues. We had extraordinary care for our old girl back home, but weren't sure we'd be able to find that level of service again. We were relieved when we finally found Flint River. They took the time to not only get to know our dog and her history, but also took the time to listen to our concerns and questions. We never felt rushed and they were always willing to give us the information we needed. We would highly recommend them to anyone. They go above and beyond and their passion for giving animals and their family the best care shines through!
I just used this Animal Hospital for the first time and had a wonderful experience. They treated my beloved cat Scooby with kindness and Doctor Simpson was extremely informative and friendly. I was given detailed explanations of everything that was going on with him and an itemized list of costs including separate estimates for different treatment plans. Even the surgical option was reasonable compared to previous experiences I've had. Unfortunately, surgery was still out of my budget right now but Doctor Simpson went out of her way to assure me the problem would still correct itself over time and did not make me feel guilty for not doing it. When I called later about a medication they recommended and carried (I was going to order it online) they told me right up front that they would match the price and have it shipped to my house if I'd like. All in all, Scooby was examined and treated for several issues for less than $150. I will be recommending them to everyone.
*Updated Review* After posting my original review a little time passed and I even decided that I was going to give this facility another chance in hopes the events I experienced was just a one time event. But I am sad to say that instead of working to earn my business and trust back this facility has chosen attempt to bully me into removing my review. Even after going and speaking personally with Dr. Lowe and coming to an agreement that things were misinterpreted, I have been blacklisted and refused services until I remove my review. I feel it is important for other customers to know how this business treats customers that disagree or have negative experiences. I was willing to drop this and hopefully feel like I could update my review in a positive way after they showed me they wanted to change my opinion. But that is not the case. The office manager has confronted me in front of other customers and talked about private matters where everyone to hear. My name and personal information about my dog were shared in the response to my review. Which if you read other responses to negative reviews you will see this is a pattern. I have made a formal complaint and review with the Better Business Bureau . Below is an email that Flint River Animal hospital sent to me regarding this situation. Beware because this is how you may be treated if you share a concern or disagree with this vet office. I am happy to say that there are MANY wonderful vets and boarding facilities in our area and I will never return to this facility. "Mrs Pollard, We have been trying to contact you about your fall break boarding reservations. We need to know the action to take regarding the google review and your agreement with Dr Lowe. He advised you that if the google review was not edited or removed you could no longer use Flint River Animal Hospital for any services including boarding. We see that you have a reservation for Neela and Flower October 4-13 2014. We would love to have them stay with us, but action must be taken before we can confirm your reservation. Please contact our office as soon as possible if you have any questions or concerns. We will hold the reservation until Monday, September 15, 2014 to give you time to edit or remove the review. Thank you, Flint River Animal Hospital" *Original Review* I have used this vet for 3 years and the daycare and boarding has been wonderful. Yearly and everyday care has been fine. A little more expensive than other vets, but when I needed them for an emergency for dog we were not treated with compassion. O brought dog in close to closing for suspected bloat and the vet on call made me feel like she was more concerned with making sure she was able to leave at 6 then doing all that needed to be done for my dog. They did treat her and stabilized her but they sent us home with a critically I'll dog. I had to call another vet to care for her through the night and do emergency surgery. I was very disappointed because we had always been happy with this vet hospital. When I came back to explain my concerns I was argued with and agian made to feel like it didn't matter what concerns were. Very uncaring about the care of my dog or business. Disappointing :-(
Our dog was dropped off for boarding 18 July 2014, in normal health. On July 24, Flint River Bed N Biscuit calls and states that our dog cannot use its rear legs. After hip radiographs were taken, Dr. Kevin Lowe treated our dog for an enlarged bladder with SMZ/TMP. We never received another call and returned from our vacation July 27. At pickup, our dog had no use of his rear legs and had to be towel walked out. Boarding provided no explanation as to whether his condition had improved or worsened. We demanded Dr. Lowe call first thing Monday morning, July 28. We were devastated, ruining our vacation memories in the process. At home, we immediately researched what could cause such sudden ataxia. Tick-borne infection was the top results. After we (the patients) suggested to Dr. Lowe that a neurological infection must be causing the ataxia, he prescribed Minocycline July 28 and sent the July 24 blood off for additional tests (which Dr. Lowe even excluded the eventual neurological infection from this test order). Not until we visited with an AVSS Orthopedic specialist and a regionally renowned veterinarian, did we finally get the correct blood tests ordered to find out that our dog during boarding was infected with Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever (RMSF). Both second opinion Vets stated that the enlarged bladder would have been a secondary effect to the neurological infection and that the enlarged bladder (or urinary tract infection) would never cause sudden ataxia. Veterinary and human research also support their findings. Furthermore, the CDC states that SMZ/TMP may worsen the RMSF infection. Our dog (while under the care of a medical professional - Dr. Lowe) had to endure a minimum of 5 days with RMSF without the proper antibiotic and possibly causing long term neurological effects that we won't know for several more months. I strongly advise NEVER to treat or board your dog at Flint River Animal Hospital.
