My first experience with the spay / neuter clinic was great - which is why I have continually used it for foster pets ever since. I took two of my own pets to be spayed; a very large dog and a year-old cat. I chose to take them rather than send them on the transport so that I could see the clinic for myself, and also so I could take them home the same day. When we arrived, the clinic was clean, and the staff was friendly. We dropped off my furkids, and then waited for the call to pick them up. Later in the day it came, so we went and got them. The girls seemed to be doing fine, so we went home, care sheets in hand. Contrary to what the anonymous, lower-star reviews might suggest, neither of my girls were missing nipples. I was told to keep a close eye on my dog, because she'd just come out of heat, and there are sometimes complications with surgeries done at that time. I watched her closely, and after a few days, she was not springing back like the cat. In fact, she was quite lethargic. So I called the clinic, and they had me bring her in. They checked her out and then put her on an IV for a few hours, and she was good as new. They did not charge me for the extra care. She had no other issues after that. I have since used the clinic for many foster animals. I always send the fosters on the transport, and they always come home the next day in great shape. I recommend this clinic to everyone. It is something that we desperately need here. Low-cost and quality care - it doesn't get any better than that.
As the Animal Control officer in a neighboring area, I was put it a potentially heartbreaking position. I had been given a call to pick up a feral kitten from a citizen. A local business person was willing to adopt it, but couldn't work the neuter surgery into his busy schedule. With the help of a couple of friends, I easily made arrangements to have the kitten brought to Alabama Spay Neuter Clinic. The staff worked well with our little "team" and the kitten was given wonderful attention, neutered, given it's Rabies vaccination, then kept in comfortable surroundings until the adopter was able to come pick up his new barn kitty. Had it not been for the cooperative and attentive care from Alabama Spay Neuter Clinic, this feral kitten would have been euthanized at the local animal shelter. Saving lives one at a time is what it's all about... Yay ASPNC!
I have used this clinic at least 5 times since they first opened. I have never had anything but a fantastic experience here. All our cats healed wonderfully and were well taken care of during their time at the clinic. They made sure that everybody picking up their pets was fully informed of what to expect, what to look for and how to properly care for their pets. I tell everybody I can about these clinics and I plan to use them again as they are the only way I would be able to afford to get the colony of feral cats living in my neighborhood in Vestavia fixed. They are God-sends!
I have a male rescue puppy Redbone Coonhound / Am. Staff Terrier. I had him neutered a few months ago at AL Spay Neuter. The whole process went perfectly from the time I checked him in that morning until I picked him up that afternoon. I was told to keep his activity low for a week, but he was so unaffected by the procedure that he was trying to run the day after. He never once seemed bothered by his incisions or the procedure. While this clinic serves anyone who wants to fix his/her pet, this clinic is especially an excellent place for those persons who cannot afford a more expensive private vet spay neuter or who are intimidated by going to a private vet. There are many pets who would otherwise not be fixed if not for the existence of AL Spay Neuter. This is not a place for regular vet care such as shots and exams. It is a place that specializes in lower cost spay neuter of dogs and cats - a service that is crucial and fills a gap that regular vet practices cannot provide.
This clinic is the cleanest, most state of the art clinic I have ever been to. The vets and staff are excellent and well trained in all procedures. They offer exceptional service for a fair price. I would recommend them to anyone.
