After supporting and caring for a number of cats over my adult life (no one really owns a cat), I was at my wit's end with current cat, Sophia. She had both a behavioral problem (urinating outside of the litter box) and physical problems -- a stone in her bladder and urinary tract infection. I took Sophia to Codornices Veterinary Clinic for a second opinion on the stone and for help with the behavioral issue. I was hesitant with my first vet's recommendation to do surgery on the stone right away, perhaps I was hesitate due to the vet's eagerness to do surgery. At Cordonrnices, I met with my new vet, Dr. Grant. He took a lot of time with me, sensing my distress. I left with a list of behavioral management ideas, medication for the infection, a change in diet and a wait and see on the stone -- although it was confirmed later by x-ray. He had explained to me that sometimes kittens with stones can be treated through diet but, rarely with adult cats. I followed the behavioral management tips to the letter, and the litter box issue miraculously ceased -- perhaps also attributable to simultaneous treatment of the infection. The change in diet had its ups and downs, but ultimately successful. The stone remained however, and after a few more months I decided on surgery. I took Sophia in early one morning only be called back to the office a short time later. The pre-surgery x-ray showed no stone, so there was no reason for the surgery. She had apparently responded to the change in diet. That was 18 months ago and Sophia has been fine ever since. We are so appreciative of Dr. Grant and the staff at Cordonrnices. I know not all outcomes can be this ideal but, the willing to take the time, to be so diagnostically through made all the difference in the world. I have a lot of respect and trust with this clinic.
Dr. Grant is an outstanding veterinarian and person. He helped us with a very difficult situation when our cat was at the end of her life. Both his personal manner and medical expertise were the best we have encountered. We recommend him very highly.
