I am going on a vacation in a couple of weeks, and want to leave my cat at The Best Little Cat House in Burbank for a few days. They require vaccination, so that she can stay in a group room. So I took my here to get her vaccination. I have been there a few years back, had no problem. But today, after getting a room I had just finished reading the papers I need to sign, doctor walks in, tells me he remembers me and that I should take my cat elsewhere!! I ask him why?? He didn't give me any reason!! I am not sure what I have done to offend him or what my cat did! I have no clue! How can a doctor refuse service?? I have never reviewed any business before, but I felt so bad with this so I had to do it!

I went here with a kitty that my long-time vet had said had a virus that would never go away. We would just have to live with it. Upon recommendation from a friend who is a retired vet, I looked for a "cat only" practice. Dr. Basilious explained everything and every possibility on the first visit. He even gave me the name of a specialist and explained some of the things she might do, if I chose to go that route. Very friendly and thorough, explains everything so you can understand, and gave me all possible options, and let me make the choice. Seeing a difference in my kitty already, but will know more in time. Have already recommended him to a friend and neighbor.

On August 29, 2012, we adopted two 9-week old kittens from a Los Angeles City animal shelter, and were advised that there had been a recent outbreak of the deadly panleukopenia virus at the shelter. The next day we took the kittens to Dr. Sam Basilious at Bastet Cat Hospital for a free new adoption checkup , where we had been taking our other cats for three years. Each kitten was given a long-lasting antibiotic injection (to help prevent secondary bacterial infections), and we were advised to watch them closely. Their health continued to decline, so a week later a complete blood panel and urinalysis, and a panleukopenia test, confirmed that both kittens had been infected: one was recovering, the second was in decline. Under Dr. Basilious' guidance he, and we, treated the kittens aggressively. Bottom line: now, three months after we adopted them, we have two healthy, happy, and exceptionally vigorous and friendly kittens bringing joy to our lives: they now both weigh five times what they did when we adopted them. Dr. Basilious specializes in cats, and only cats, and his knowledge and experience are vast. The facilities are spotless, and his patients are treated like royalty. Is quality care like this expensive? Panleukopenia is nearly always fatal. If we'd elected to forgo certain treatments, or visit a lower cost veterinarian, the outcome most likely would not have been as bright. Whether it's humans or cats, quality medical care costs more and has a greater chance of a better outcome. And when it comes to our cats, which are our only children, we spare no expense to ensure that they have healthy, happy lives, thereby enriching our own lives in the process.

My first experience with Bastet Cat Hospital was when my kitten swallowed a needle on a Saturday 5 years ago and we were able to get in first thing that morning (instead of an emergency vet hospital) and get that needle out right away. Dr. Basilious was kind and explained what was needed. I was reassured at his expertise since he specializes in cats and is AAHA accredited (only 15% of vet clinics are). I knew she would be in good hands. She has been ever since. And so has our other cat we've added since then. Dr. Basilious takes his time with you to explain anything going on and he's very friendly, as is his staff. His first priority is the safety and health of your cat. Our cat who swallowed the needle also has an auto immune disease and he monitors her constantly when it comes to her steroid use (Prednisolone) & how it affects her health. I feel that he is extraordinarily capable with any scenario and has done a fantastic job with our cats. I trust him completely.

Dr. Sam is like Christiian Banard - but his patients are cats. My two little girls (cats) are still kicking quite vigorously, despite both being over 15, with advanced diabetes in Dottie, and a hyper thyroid/kidney condition in Cinder. Dr's medication and food prescriptions (based on decades of continued education), made a tremendous difference in their overall well being and are keeping all the lab findings (numbers) acceptable. If I need a heart transplant, I'll look for a Banard trained physician. When my cats need attention, I am thankful that Dr. Sam @ Bastet Cat Hospital is there for us I am a client of yours till the girls drop - - and a friend of yours till I drop :-)
