I have been going to the Cat Hospital in Campbell for two years now. My cat has been treated for two conditions, one of which was cured, and other for which is ongoing. I have seen two vets for other condition which is ongoing and neither one of them could cure my cat. The condition for Sierra (my cat) is missing fur on her back because she keeps biting at it. We have tried changing her food, anti-depressants, and steroids. Nothing has worked, but luckily the condition is not really harmful to her health, it just looks odd. Prices at the Cat Hospital are comparable with others, and Dr. Hanney is a very dedicated doctor, I thankful to her. My only complaint is that pulling in to the Cat Hospital on E. Hamilton Avenue is a little hard to find, but so are all the other business on that side of the street. As for the review, Audrey, I am sorry she experienced that, and she has every right to be angry. But that is nothing like what I have experienced, furthermore, I feel that the vast majority of clients are quite happy.
I have two cats now, both of them young and healthy, and they both visit the Cat Hospital for their veterinary care. After having tried 3 or 4 different vets in the area and finding each one more outrageously priced than the other for just simple things such as yearly check-ups and shots, I settled on the Cat Hospital. After having had my beloved 20 year old cat pass away a few years back, I am NO stranger to the many issues that cats encounter during their lifetimes and in old age, or how expensive veterinary care can be. I find The Cat Hospital to be very friendly and well versed: not only are they good for the usual yearly treatments, but are great for getting in for last minute appointments, grooming, and boarding. I have one cat (who is afraid of everything) that has VERY long and difficult to care for hair; their grooming services are EXCELLENT, and very well priced and my cat always returns home in beautiful and happy. Their boarding services are very well priced. I would recommend them to ANYONE with cats.
The Cat Hospital is a cat-only facility which is easily accessable (just beware leaving during heavy traffic periods). Dr.s Shanker and Hanney have treated my previous cats from 1988 to 2006, and are currently treating my current pets. They are very kind and considerate of the pets and the owners.
Iv'e been going to Dr.'s Shanker and Hanney for almost 15 years. Now I have 5 cats and would not consider going anywhere else. They are compassionate and professional and really care about the animals. Absolutely recommend.
I took my cat here after reading the reviews and having a couple of friends recommend them. I was greatly disappointed. My cat had begun visiting the litter box frequently, every few minutes. I figured it was a UTI, so I brought her in. I saw Dr. Hanney. They told me she was dehydrated (though I did the skin test previously and she was fine), so they gave her sub dermal fluids and took a urinalysis. Urinalysis was fine, except for the fact her urine was about 50% blood. The next day they took xrays. The xrays were normal (no kidney or bladder stones, etc) and so they said they basically didn't know what it was - they suggested feeding her tons of wet food (she'll only eat tuna, and I was told that's perfect) and to treat her with "water and pain killers" - then they suggested a $400 ultra sound to "assess the damage, but it's unlikely to find the problem." Her urination problem reoccurred every couple of weeks for the next couple of months, during which this is the only advice they gave me. I don't know about you, but if a doctor told me the cure for peeing every 3-5 minutes with blood in my urine was to drink water and take pain killers, I'd get a second opinion. So I did. I took her to the Central Valley where I grew up and had her see the vet I'd previously been seeing since 1981. He told me she most likely had crystals in her urine, which was irritating her system & causing an infection (which wouldn't show up on the urinalysis) & the blood. He said giving her a low pH food will solve the problem. He said this is an extremely common problem and said he has NO CLUE why this office wouldn't think of this first, before charging me a LOT of money (I had to cancel my vacation to Hawaii to pay for it all) for NO REASON. She's been on this food for over a month, and seems very happy. No reoccurrance has happened since. I am FURIOUS with this office for making my cat deal with this pain for so long, before looking for the most common, and most likely, and least expensive reason. Instead, they seemed to think she had something rare. I believe they were just out for money. Might be fine for regular shots; but not much else. I'm never going back.
