There is a number of things I like about this facility. First off they are open 24 hours and don't gouge for a last minute or urgent appointments;, office visits are $50 and emergencies are $70. The facility is SUPER CLEAN, well designed, new and modern and doesn't have the weird "funk" like many older vet offices do. Another important reason I like them is that they saved my dog's life when he ingested a bottle of massage oil which had toxic essential oils in it. He was in CRITICAL CONDITION. I was so grateful for their compassion and professionalism in this matter. He stayed over night and they allowed me to come see him and walk him in the evening. After that walk he rather willingly went with the Vet Tech back to his kennel and didn't even look back at me as he went, which told me that he was OK with the place himself. Sparky and I have tried a lot of Vet Hospitals, and I have to say he seems the most comfortable there. The night-time doctor, Dr. Wilson I believe, was the sweetest lady we ever met, and Sparky liked the way she talked with him. I remember her because she said she had worked "graveyard" for many years and had some Arabian horses as I do. That night we went because of a seizure he had. I am grateful to Dr. Wilson as she didn't goad us into spending a bunch of money on tests that might lead nowhere saying, "You could spend a lot of money trying to find out what happened but it may never happen again" encouraging me to wait to see if the seizure returned before running any tests. The downside is this place feels a bit "corporate", like if Starbucks were a Vet hospital this is how it would look and feel. Lots of Docs, some of them very young and lacking maturity who could learn a lesson or two from Dr. Wilson. Some too eager to urge surgery on an old dog such as mine. If you want a practice where you will get to know just one doctor and build a relationship with them then this is not the place. If you need a clean, modern and affordable, veterinary center with flexible hours and plenty of available appointment times on short notice...then this IS the place. Too bad Dr Wilson only works urgent care because we would go to her exclusively if we could. Thank You Holly and Sparky
On Tuesday night around 9 pm, May 27, my collie/retriever mix got bitten by a baby rattle snake. I was scared and emotional and I honestly thought I was going to lose my baby girl. The staff quickly took her in and got her started on medications and antivenin. They told us she had a 75-80% chance of surviving and gave me an estimate around 2,900 dollars for ANYTHING they would have possibly needed to do while she was hospitalized. THERE WERE NO HIDDEN FEES, which in this economy is very nice. We were able to go and visit our little girl while she was hospitalized on Wednesday. They were very sweet and gentle with her and kept me informed every single time I called to check up on her, letting me know when she last ate, had her walk to go potty, and how her recovery was coming along. We ended up taking her home Thursday and was given full descriptions and instructions for her medications. The price ended up being less then half of what they quoted on the estimate. I love this place and take my dogs there for anything they could possibly need.
I had a very good experience with the staff and the way they assisted me with the diagnosis of what should be done for my dog and what I could do to get my dog some immediate attention. Because I couldn't afford even taken her there for her symptoms that she was having and I felt confident that they will give my dog Missy something to help her, which I feel like they have. And secondly, as I exited and loading my dog in my vehicle I heard a car hit what I thought was a dog but instead a large cat in front of the center on broadway of El cajon, so I quickly notified the staff and they came running to assist that animal, stopping traffic to retrieve the animal. The staff was there in minutes to help so I felt the Animal Medical Center staff really cared about what happened to the animal. So I just want the say a least thank you Animal Medical Center you are now my clinic to take my dog Missy and will tell everyone because I was impressed with the way they handled the situation getting up that cat so fast and rushing back to the Medical Center to save that cat. You guys are great!!!
The hours are accommodating to my work schedule. The office visit price is cheaper compared to other hospitals I have visited. The rate for boarding is way cheaper then other places I have looked into. The building is VERY clean and open. Plenty of parking. Great location. Scored 4 stars only because the medication is almost double the price compared to online pet pharmacy sites. Other then the price of medication they are a 5 star facility without a doubt. Great team of people there.
It does not seem like this placecan handle the traffic. I know they make enough money to hire more people to assist the patients. I can sit there for 20 minutes watching a front desk clerk type on the computer and do other stuff then check in people on the list. The express desk is a joke, why even open one if you never have it open. Something as simple as getting your pet into grooming is a long wait in itself. Don't they know how quickly a line would go down if they had a separate area for these quick routine items (shots, grooming, boarding, questions). If you cannot handle the amount of people then you either need to let the people know that walk in it could be a 20 minute wait (they don't even acknowledge you when you wait) or you need to hire more people. I hope Nancy and Richard see this because they are going to lose more clients daily if they keep this up. Bad reviews are not good for any company, period!
