This is our go-to vet. We love them, our dog even loves them! They are reasonably priced and make an effort for you to get your money's worth. When our dog had to be sedated for an inner ear procedure they went ahead and trimmed his nails while he was under anyway, at no extra charge. They always give us various options for treatment so we can choose something that fits our budget, and follow-up visits are complimentary.

Called to get a price quote over the phone and the person answering the phone was extremely rude and would not give me a price quote. He told me I had to bring the cat in to get a quote on what they charge for a medication I know they are going to prescribe. Im not going to spend $60 just to find out how much they charge for meds.

My pets have been patients of ECVV for many years - I've never had any problems - I highly recommend them to all animal owners.

Horrible experience. We have taken our dogs to many vets over the years and this is our first bad experience. Took our dog in who had an abscess under chin and they sent him home with drain tubes and nothing to catch the blood. So, while driving home, blood is getting all over car seat. When I left, I asked receptionist about antibiotics TWICE and was told there weren't any and everything was taken care of. So, after bleeding in the car, I called back and the receptionist talked to the vet who said 'come back so we can put something on to catch the blood"... and receptionist said, "oh, and we forgot to give you the antibiotics." So, I guess it's normal practice to send a dog home with drainage tubes and nothing to catch it? And you forget to give the medications after I've specifically asked if there were any more than once? Since I live 30 minutes from vet, I had to spend an additional hour driving and more time waiting for them to fix what they should have done originally. When I got there, vet seemed to care less about ordeal and didn't even say he was sorry. I asked for a discount, credit or refund and I was told that "we don't compensate for mistakes... everyone makes mistakes". As a business owner myself, when I make a mistake, I try to make it up to the customer. Not El Cajon Valley Vet - they could care less. They were rude, unapologetic, sloppy and unprofessional. If they can't care for a simple abscess, forget the medication when asked twice and send a dog home bleeding, I shudder to think how they would care for something more critical. And if they mess up??... don't forget they "don't compensate for mistakes". We will NEVER be back and will spread the word to stay away.

The staff here really cares about the pets and their owners. When my cat was very ill and had to stay with them for several days, I received frequent status calls every day - I was amazed. They are incredibly kind and in contrast to other vets we used in the past, did not hardsell expensive treatments. I was offered several treatment options for my sick pet. He recovered after two staff vets worked their magic (Thank you Dr. Paulson and Dr. Tessler). While Dr. Tessler is our primary vet, I wouldn't hesitate to use any of the doctors there, every visit has been a positive experience (as much as it can be when your pet is in trouble!).
