As a Sporthorse/Dressage trainer I have come in contact with many veterinarians and I have consulted many over the years. The team at LAVA absolutely rocks, I have been working with them for many years. Their combined experience will leave no question unanswered, from emergency and routine procedures to reproductive consult to intricate sports medicine solutions, there's an expert for any problem you might be faced with. Their passion for the horses shines through every move and the team in the office keeps the engine running smoothly! Highly recommended!
My sincere thanks to Dr. Rand for helping my save a calf born in August. We had to let the cows out onto the house portion of our property during the fires of 2007. Meaning the bull was loose with all cows including one I had tried to keep separate to prevent early breeding. Well, apparently- he got her- and one day unexpectly I came across a tiny calf that was not being acknowledged by her mom and kicked away every time tried to nurse. Not getting the cholostrum vital to boost calf's immune system during first hours of life her chance of surviving was slim to none at best. Dr. Rand examined her, gave her antibiotic shots and advice on how I would give daily shots for the next 3-5 days depending on my observation of how she looked and felt. Eew! Me give shots?! Okie Dokey... Extremely time consuming for me away from home to my husbands disgust. But for the $350, four addition shots I gave per her instructions, two weeks of bottle feeding, daily tie up for two weeks of mom to fence with back feet together to force nursing and any mom milk I could manage to manually squeeze out and get into the powdered calf milk bottle supplement saved her! Bottom Line- Dr. Rand is awesome and caring enough to share her knowledge and experience to help me make decisions needed to give the calf best survival chance. She is alive, nursing a bit off the mom and eating alfalfa on her own, very well and out with all our cows today. Thank You Dr. Rand!!! Debbie Hornsby
This guy offered to take a look at my horse, who had a limp, while on a barn call for another boarder at my barn. He did a cursory visual exam, failed to correctly diagnose the problem (horse actually had an abscess as the farrier later identified) or offer any useful advice. He basically shrugged his shoulders and told me to let him rest it. Uh, thanks, duh.... All of this took about 30 seconds. After this "helpful" and "professional" assessment he had the moxie to send me an outrageous bill -almost twice what I pay for the normal vet- including a barn call fee when he was already out there and barely looked at my horse! I offered to pay an amount equal to the going rate minus the barn call fee, which they accepted, and then proceeded to send the balance to a collections agency! I couldn't believe it. They completely stonewalled, wouldn't return my phone calls, and took to hiding behind their collection thugs, holding my credit ransom until they get their "hard earned" money. So now they've got my credit in a sling all because I didn't want to pay them extra for doing nothing! They didn't even diagnose the problem for gosh-sakes! This place is a bunch of un-professional, incompetent, unreasonable, money grubbing, extortionists. They don't even have the integrity to return my calls or come to a reasonable agreement. Unbelievable. Sounds like they sure know how to run a scam, but are half-assed vets if you ask me. Don't believe this other reviewers, they probably work at the office, this is the reality. Educated professionals should not act like this. STAY AWAY!!! DONT LET THEM NEAR YOUR ANIMALS
