We have used El Sobrante Vet Hospital for about 5 years, from the time we moved to this area. The office staff and vets are knowledgeable, efficient, kind to our animals, and personable to us. They know our animals! They have taken us from animal acquisition (usually through rescue) to end-of-life care and many phases in between. We have had 2 big dogs and 4 cats while clients of El Sobrante Vet Hospital.

My Jack Russell was having tummy issues, vomiting and bleeding. It was my first time him here and Patricia was the kindest, gentlest and sweetest Vet I have ever encountered. Naturally I was worried taking him to a new vet being that he gets very antsy. Yet she was great, thorough and detailed. She explained things to me in away that I would understand and comprehend. My little ball of energy was looked at and the meds and diet that was recommended was perfect, he was better in about a week and no reoccurrences, just as playful as before he went in. Thanks you much!

Absolutely horrific place, had the worst experience, ever. The vet mis-diagnosed a 4 months old puppy, put him on a 10 day antibiotic course for she considered a skin infection (while self-proclaiming herself an expert in that field). A month later it appeared again, but it turned out to be a simple allergy, which was treated successfully by Benadryl cream instead of horrible and expensive antibiotics. Antibiotics have a very bad side effect on growing puppies: it affects their growth platelets, and may results in serious skeletal problems later on in their lives. I am outraged, how a vet could put my poor puppy at risk without a good reason. Another thing: even though we've made an appointment, they've made us wait FIFTY TWO minutes in a tiny room, where both I and the puppy were going nuts, while she was busy treating other patient who came after us, one after another. Bad customer service, expensive, and bad, dangerous and unnecessary treatments. Unacceptable. And oh yeah, she did n't even bother to check my puppy shot records, so, without as much as letting me know about it, she just gave him a second rabies shot, before I even had a chance to ask - what is it? This is borderline criminal: vets in this place are only worried about making money, and don't care about animal well-being. Worst experience, ever. Never again. Avoid that place before they kill your pet.
