This morning our guinea pig Star died. I started calling animal hospitals to get help making arrangements for our beloved pet. It was disappointing on how insensitive the other hospitals were. Some told me, "We don't deal with Guinea Pigs only Dogs and Cats. Have a nice day." It bothered me that when I requested Stars paws to be printed with ink on paper they told me, "We don't do that but you can get one (meaning one paw) ceramic one for $25 on top of the $60 for care of remains. I was so upset! Next on the list was Desert Care Animal Hospital. Employee Kathy answered my call; so I explained to her what happened along with what I would like to do. She was so sweet and expressed condolences. Kathy said, I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I had to fight back the flood of tears. Kathy answered all my questions regarding the Care of Remains. I was so grateful for her attitude toward my situation. So I decided to take Star in. The staff was extremely friendly and considerate toward me as well as my daughter. They gave us a moment to say our final good bye. It cost $30 to have our beloved Star cremated and laid to rest in a garden. Then on top of it all they made imprints of Star's paws then came and asked me if I liked it or did I want it centered more. I instructed the employee on where I wanted her prints on the paper; that's when she went back and carefully printed all of Stars paws on paper that I provided at no extra cost. I HIGHLY recommend this Animal Hospital!!! Thank you Kathy & the rest of Desert Care Animal Staff for helping us during a difficult time.

I have never taken my animals here but i never will. My husband and i and our 5 year old son went to have lunch atToms burgers. We say down next to a window facing the parking lot. We saw a dog laying on a bed of a truck and 2 nurses were injecting a needle into what appeared to be a golden retriever. Then witnessed them wrap the dog in a blanket. The owner picked him up and put him into the cab and then took a much smaller dog, hugged and kissed him, handed him over to the nurse and then injected a needle into that dog as well. He was wrapped and handed back to the owner and put in the cab as well. It's a no brainer the poor dogs were uthanized. The waitress noticed it as well and became nervous as she asked if we need anything. It was an awkward moment. I was livid! Everyone who sat on that side of the wall witness this tragedy. My 5 year old son was upset! So i went in and spoke to the nurses. I didn't make a scene but i looked into their eyes and asked if what i saw was true. She admitted that it was their "clients" request. Client??? Ok...so i told them my son watched them do that. It was in plain sight and very inappropriate. And that it made lots of people unconfortable. As i walked away, i felt the sarcasm as she yelled out "sorry about that"!! Really??? You're sorry? Shouldn't it be customary and company policy to do that in privacy? The whole shopping center isn't interested in watching that!

My family and I have been with Desert care animal hospital for over 20 years. They have respected and loved each of our animals and are available for phone help and suggestions when we have needed it. I like each of the staff I have met. Very supportive environment. Great with all animals. I have even seen a woman bring in an abandoned wild bunny, and receive help with suggestions for care.
