Excellent vet along w his partner Dr. Sawyer. Been going there since 1986 when my dog broke my cat's pelvis. Dr. Katzer said you may think I'm crazy but I'm not going to do anything and in a day or two that cat will be back to normal. Well I did think he was crazy but he was right! 2 days later my cat jumped up on the bookcase! I've had MANY animals with anything from stitches to torn ACL to a tonsillectomy (!) and he's brought them all through for me. Thank you Dr. Katzer and Dr. Sawyer. I only saw Dr. Katzer for years and I love the his honesty. If he sees it he's going to tell you and tell you why he thinks that. Even the times when I asked him if he thought my dog might just be suffering from NOS (neurotic owner syndrome, the flip side of NDS, neurotic dog syndrome) I've been seeing Dr. Sawyer lately and he's so good with my dogs both in the way he approaches them (even the Cujo chihuahua) and heals them. I love Shantel who is the best employee and if they don't do everything to keep her they are absolutely crazy! That they have after hour emergency availability is wonderful esp since Jamul is pretty far away from other emergency clinics and your pet might not survive the trip. All in all in all my years going here I have never had a bad experience. Your in good, knowledgeable and caring hands here.
Thought you might be interested in a post I am placing on my facebook, Yelp San Diego and.....Today I had my little girl fixed. Although I thought this was a nice enough place imagine my shock when I went to pick her up and was told she had wire stitches inside that would never melt away. They even laughed and told me when she gained weight they would be covered by fat and I would no longer be aware of them. I have had several pets spayed and neutered over the years and they all had dissolving stitches. I was not informed when I dropped her off and had originally chosen this vet for the laser technology that would be used during the surgery. Seeming so far ahead of the times I had no idea they were in the dark ages as far as the stitches. Upon picking her up I was told it was to save time and use for x-ray proof of spay later. My major complaint here is the fact that I should have been told ahead of time about none removable sutures. If I had it to do over I would not use this vet. Long story short if this sort of thing bothers you make sure you ask questions ahead of time. I feel as the trained professionals you should have informed me of proceedure ahead of time.
Dr. Katzer and Shantel came in on a Saturday night to help save our dog who was bit b a rattlesnake on the inside of his mouth. The doc had kept him up-to-date on the rattlesnake vaccine which made everything a little better. Three days later, he looks and feels great! Thanks Doc!
Caring, compassionate and skilled veterinarians, wonderful staff, great care!
