I adopted my beautiful Bombay Midnight from Judy in June of 2012 - he and my other rescue cat, Sweet Pea, a gorgeous silver tabby/rag doll mix, have been very well take care of by the staff at Sherman Oaks vet clinic. I am especially fond of Dr. Franklin for her care of Sweet Pea's allergy problems. She has rag dolls of her own, and my husband Paul and I value her empathy and compassion for our little kitty girl. Judy is truly a beautiful person, inside and out, and I enjoy having Midnight visit her for his monthly mani/pedi's! I feel truly fortunate that such caring folks are nearby.

The Doctors and Staff are amazing. Not only do the doctors have excellent diagnostic and surgery skills, but they and the entire staff treat the owners with respect and compassion. Dr. Richter has been our vet for over 20 years. He is smart, talented and loving to all his patients. I also appreciate the other doctors on the staff. Whether our dogs needed routine exams or, complicated cancer treatments, we were in good hands and all got the care we needed.

I have had dogs and cats for many years, and Sherman Oaks Veterinary Group is the best I have known. At the moment, I have two 10-year old dogs, and a 17-year-old cat, and the doctors really know how to care for senior animals. We usually see Dr. Clipsham, and he is wonderful, but I've seen several of the other doctors and they have also been excellent. When one of my dogs had to have surgery for a blown ACL, Dr. Richter handled it expertly. The front office staff is very attentive and capable.

I've been bringing my Havanese here for years. The staff is always caring, and the doctors are knowledgeable and friendly. It is fairly expensive, but this is the only place I truly trust with my little guy's health. They have always worked him in quickly when needed, including once during a potential emergency. They were so very kind (both the front office and the doctor), and helped us rapidly. The exams are always very thorough, which is extremely important to me. They have never shrugged off my concerns, but always take them seriously and give me multiple options for testing and treatment. I'm grateful to Sherman Oaks Veterinary Group and their staff. They've helped us with strange infections, general healthcare, tooth cleaning, and even with potential emergencies. In all situations, they have been honest, caring, and thoughtful. I haven't found another place I would trust like I do this clinic. And I have looked. If you are looking for low-cost care, this is not the place for you. But if you are willing to pay a little more for excellent care and service, I would give SOVG my highest recommendation.

If i could give this place ZERO stars, I would. This place is a horrific and needs to be shut down ASAP. I brought my dog in to get a loose tooth checked out, the doctor says that it needs to come out, and it seems that a few more in the back will need to be removed. So we make the appointment to get it done. My dog is 6 lbs, they put him under so they can remove the teeth. 45 minutes later the doctors calls me and tells me that the surgery is done and that they removed 2-3 teeth and i can pick him up in a few hours. After I pick him up, i notice that the tooth that was loose, that started this whole ordeal, is STILL IN HIS MOUTH! I also notice that there is also a 1.5 inch cut on his lower back with a couple of stitches on it. Last I checked, teeth are in the mouth, not on his back. So i go back to the vet and demand an answer to the above. They keep telling me that they are waiting for the technician to come back from his break to find out what happened. Then i finally ask the doctor why are we waiting for the technician since he's the doctor, he should know what the story is here. The doctor finally admits that he was not in the room when the surgery happened and only the technician did the surgery(s). He said he told the technician to FREEZE a growth that was on my dogs lower back. He wasnt sure why he grabbed a knife and cut into my dog in order to CUT OFF the growth. I ask the doctor why he did that WITHOUT my authorization. His response was that he should have called but didn't, and wasn't going to charge me for it. He had his technician performing SURGERY on my dog, UNATTENDED!! And we know it was unattended because if the doctor was in the room, he would have stopped him from cutting into the dog and told him to FREEZE it off. A technician is not allowed to perform this type of surgery in the State of California. So why is this place letting their technicians perform illegal surgeries??? The mere fact that my dog still had the tooth in his mouth (the 1st tooth to go was the one on the top right in the middle upfront, you can't miss it!), means that the doctor didn't even look him over after the technician finished learning how to be a doctor on my dog. (He wasn't in the room- but they charged me as if her was). Then the doctor finally takes the tooth out of his mouth, and i ask him what other teeth were removed, and he says NONE!!!! So essentially, they put my 6 lb - 10 year old dog under, don't do anything to his teeth. Perform an unauthorized surgery on his back, then give him back to me, but charging me for removing 2-3 teeth. WTF?!?! Also- we pay to get an xray (which wasnt cheap). then the doctor gives her 'opinion' on the results, and then says, if you want a real xray interpretation so we can really know whats going on that'll cost you an additional $72. I just paid for an Xray, OF COURSE we want a proper reading of the xray. why else would we do the xray??? to get the results!! so their take is, we'll take the xray, but if you want to know whats on it, pay me more. RIP OFF!!!! I'm going to be filing a complaint with everyone that i can. This is just ridiculous that this facility can do surgeries like that and expect no repercussions. If you care about your pets, take them SOMEWHERE ELSE!!! This place will RIP YOU OFF at the cost of your pets life! Stay away!!
