Well where do I begin? My Chow Chow Tanner was in bad shape. He went in to get his teeth cleaned in August 2014, came out with a severe limp. We tried several medications and nothing seemed to help. Went to the regular vet several times, tried acupuncture, different meds etc. nothing seemed to help the little guy. Yorba Regional referred us to Veterinary Neurology Center in Tustin for MRI. We met Dr. Phillip Schissler DVM, a specialist in Neurology. He was amazing, he was up front with what my dog needed and told us what was good for him, us, and what the prognosis would be and could be. He was clear and precise on treatment and future care. My dog had no rear legs he would collapse and drag rear legs. We were afraid that we would have to put him down. Dr. Schissler changed that thinking all together. He explained that there was a good chance for recovery. The next day after surgery my dog was walking!! Really?? We are all amazed. His recovery is simply "Epic"! Un believable! We are so happy! The back surgery was to repair 2 huge herniated disks. A 5 hour procedure. We got our dog back. Wagging tail. Licking faces and loving life! Want the best chance to help your pet? This is the place!!!!!!!!!!

Dr. Hanson performed a cervical spine surgery on my adopted dachshund recently. Chuck and I are very happy with the results. Chuck is back to his old little rascal self, full of energy with hardly any residual pain left. I highly recommend this clinic to any pet owner going through sleepless nights with a dog who is in terrible pain. Dr. Hanson and his staff are very professional, caring and compassionate. The clinic is very clean and easy to get to from anywhere in Southern California.

I am so glad we went to see Dr. Hanson. He was so sweet and gentle with our dog. He was very calm and soft spoken. He did a thorough exam on our dog with us present. He clearly explained our dog's problems and the diagnostic and treatment options. The staff were so nice and the facility was clean! We highly recommend them!

Dr. Hanson, and all of his staff were great. He explained everything up front, and after getting the MRI, he listed options, and gave me a very informed decision to make. I really appreciated his matter of fact delivery, and allowed me to make an informed decision on the path to choose. I was headed to another place for neurology in OC, but could tell from the friendly staff that was offering to board my dog for the three days until he could be seen, as a money machine with feigned compassion. I felt I got a factual, and non-soaking treatment here, and if any future similar needs arise, it is the first place I will go.

We took our 8-year-old Golden/Chow to an Emergency/Referral Hospital after he banged into the corner of a desk and was instantly paralyzed. He stayed in the Emergency clinic overnight and the next morning they made an appointment for him to see Dr. Hanson for an MRI. I was virtually hysterical with fear for Smileys future. The staff was calm and compassionate. Dr. Hanson called me late that afternoon to say that the MRI had revealed damage to his spine which would gradually heal without surgery. In a world where people suspect specialists of self-serving, money-making diagnoses, I can only say that I would have paid ANYTHING to make Smiley well. The Veterinary Neurology Center made no attempt to exploit my panic. It has been 16 months, and although not perfect, Smiley is virtually recovered, without surgery. The Veterinary Neurology Center is highly recommended for honesty and expertise.
