They killed my dog. I had a 7 year old Yorkshire terrier which had undergone general anesthesia 3 times previously, one for neutering and twice for dental cleaning, all with my regular veterinarian. The veterinarian I normally use does not have any boarding facility, I had to board my dog and to have the dental cleaning. They overdosed my dog with medication and during the procedure their monitoring equipment failed, by the time he realized the dog was in trouble they tried to intubate my dog but it was too late. When the records were reviewed by 3 other veterinarians they were appalled at both the treatment and the shoddy records that were kept. In addition, I learned that when my dog was previously boarded he was attacked and bite by another dog and required medical treatment. Do not bring your dog here if you value the life of your dog. He may come back fine or may come back injured or worse, dead. The doctors are very smart and appear compassionate but they take no responsibility when things go wrong. Take my advice to heart.
Dr. Jon Gustafson has expertly cared for our four rescue companions for years. He has drained a sudden onset tumor and diagnosed and treated arthritis for our dog. Dr. Gustafson has accurately diagnosed heart murmurs in two of our cats and maintains the wellness of all of our precious pets as if they were his own. He is responsive and empathetic with an obvious joyfulness.
I've had Gunbarrel Vet Hospital as my Vet and Cat Boarding source for years. I could not be happier with the people who work there or the type of terrific work they do. If my cat, Felix, is ill they see him immediately and really care about his health. When I travel, which is frequently, I can leave him there in their care with no worry. He comes home happy to see me, with a happy coat of fur and well fed.
Extremely friendly, compassionate, and competent. The vets and techs clearly know how to handle animals in distress. They have a clean and warm environment, with a really beautiful building. They have a special kitty room, which is really great for making kitties feel safe. There is probably one for dogs, too. We have been there twice with minor kitty emergencies this month and have felt very very cared for.
