U-Hills Animal Hospital actually deserves 6 stars, but that's not an available option. They are such caring professionals and just really nice folks to deal with. Recently on a very busy Saturday afternoon, they squeezed us in for an appt. on a moments notice when my cat suddenly lost her vision. They did a routine exam and blood work and referred us right away to a nearby Veterinary Opthalmologist to further investigate treatments for her blindness. They also did a follow-up call after the appt. and lastly, they have great rates for their services.
Update: Since my last review our family has expanded, and we've been to University Hills Animal Hospital several more times. -In regards to their urgency which was mentioned by another reviewer, I must disagree. My husband called me at work one afternoon to tell me that Bridget was acting weird and seemed as though she was having a seizure. I called Uhills and told them he was on his way there- this was at about 3 - 3:30pm. By the time I got there, they were already in a room with a vet tech. Another incident occurred at about 8:00pm on a Friday night: Our new addition got in a fight with Bridget and we took her to the Urgent Care for a scratch by her eye. Again, she was seen right away. -Our Boxer mix, Jenkins, is a rescue and has some serious issues- aggression, anxiety, etc. The staff at University Hills Animal Hospital couldn't possibly be better for him! We told them about all of the training we're doing with him, but the struggles we're still dealing with are pretty severe. Dr. Zaid was more than understanding, she, and all of the techs, took great care with him, and got him to the point where he was wagging his tail and wanting their attention! They even said they would be able to board him when we go out of town! Jenkins is already less anxious when he sees other people. University Hills Animal Hospital has been such a wonderful partner in the care of our pets. My dog is my child, so when we moved to the Denver area it was a bit nerve racking trying to find a new vet for her. Bridget (my dog) had pancreatitis twice before, causing me to be extra attentive (paranoid if you ask my fiance.) My fiance's friend recommended University Hills Animal Hospital, so we gave them a shot. I couldn't be happier. I brought Bridget in for, what turned out to be, allergies (yeah, the same ones that get you and I sneezing and wiping our eyes.) The vet was very knowledgable, kind, and in Bridget's case, very patient. He even emailed a week or so later to follow up on her. I've taken her back for her routine check ups, and a couple more odd behaviors (those allergies get me every time!) and every time the vet that sees her follows up on her. Not the vet's assistant, that veterinarian him/herself. Bridget is due for another nail clipping, so I'll be heading over there again in a few days.
We've been taking our pets to Dr. Jeff Gerlesits at University Hills Vet since 2011. He has always treated us and our pets with such kindness and professional care. The staff has always been friendly and helpful, when we call and visit. We appreciate the knowledge and service, and feel they treat our pets very well.
We switched to University Hills about a year ago because they were closer and had urgent care hours. They were good, nothing spectacular. I am giving them a one star rating for the fact that this past weekend me and my wife took our beloved cat their with what we thought was a broken leg. When we got there we waited a few minutes before being greeted. When we were greeted by the lady in the office just to the right when you walked. She asked why we were there and told her that our cat leg was hurt and would like to see a vet. She proceeded to take the information of our cat (he has not been there at this point). After taking the information she said she had an appointment at 2:30 (the time was 11:00). She then said "unless you think it is a emergency". We said his leg was hurt so yes it is. She told us it would be $105.00 emergency charge. We said fine. It then took 10 minutes for us to be called in to a room (thee place was empty at this time). When we were in the room the vet tech took the cats temp and weight and said the doctor would be in shortly. About 10-15 minutes later no doctor has came to see my cat. While several well pets came and went. I started calling around to some vets. Finally I called our old vet and they sure we can see him right away with no emergency charge. So we left without even speaking with a doctor about 30-40 minutes after our arrival. Needless to say my cat had a stroke and time was everything and University Hills had no urgency.
As new to the Denver area we were looking for somewhere to take our 6 year old lab mix and based on the reviews we got in contact with UHAH. Scheduling an initial appointment was easy and after explaining to the office that our dog doesn't do well in confined spaces with other dogs, UHAH was very understanding and accommodating. Instead of waiting to do the paperwork when we got there and sit in the waiting room, we went over the information needed on the phone. When we got to the office I called before going to see if there were any other dogs in the waiting room. Since there weren't we got her weighed and went straight into an exam room. The doctor and nurses were all very pleasant, answered any and all questions I had, and also provided some guidance on avoiding dry skin on the dog since we recently moved here. Couldn't praise UHAH anymore!
