If you don't mind very long waits, discourteous staff and a chaotic waiting room, then this vet hospital is for you! The wait time for 3 visits,so far, has averaged 2 hours. Each time I have gone, there has been some emergency surgery on a cow. One of the women behind the desk told me it would be 20 minutes, but after an hour, as I was waiting in the car with my dog, I asked her to call me on my cell phone when they were ready. After 1 1/2 hours, she did, to let me know the vet had only one dog left to see and then I was next. After a few more minutes I went in and she told me (in a very disagreeable way) that if I hadn't come in at that very minute, I would have lost my place! I told her I probably wouldn't be coming back and she said that was fine with her! I was then stuck in a waiting room. After another half hour, the vet (Dr. Crawford) finally came in. I told him the wait time there was so far (3 visits) averaging 2 hours. He apologized and seemed kind. However, on checking out, the other woman at the desk said, "We've had a terrible day but we don't feel the need to apologize." With such a discourteous staff and such very long waits, I am not returning to this place!

Alpine is not only the best veterinary hospital in Monte Vista, but it is the best in the entire San Luis Valley! They have several vets on staff, and I ould trust any of my critters to all of them. In addition, they have one of the best orthopedic surgeons available. I have many pets of my own, and I work in animal rescue, and have LOTS of experience with vets. Trust me, if you're looking for a good one, you don't have to look any further.
