This center upon walking in is pristine and friendly. My Dads dog was greeted by name! The receptionist was friendly and greeted promptly upon seeing us. We waited just a few minutes and then we saw the initial person responsible for intake of information about how the dog is and our reason for the visit. Our dog shakes upon walking in :( because he is away from us for just a little while and in a strange place. They are very considerate and gentle with him. He got his shots and then we had to discuss surgery for removal of some teeth while addressing some dietary issues with the doctor. The doctor was very thorough and realistic with us about his recovery and reassuring of the need to deal with the problems. Again, the doctor was pleasant and helpful. She was not in a hurry or overbooked! It was a very good experience and will be back again!!
The woman running the business are largely overbearing. They do not seem to like animals at all. I felt vey uncomfortable in this place. They are very aggressive. They pushed unessesary purchases and services on me. They are incompassionate, cold and hard. Although they don't care for pets, they do love money . They have a great appetite for business & money! Take my words, don't bring your pet to this business. It is a bsiness for them, not a caring healing place for your pet.
I've been going to Shelton Vet Center for a few months with my dog. I am now looking for a new vet. They are very one sided and seem to care about only money. If I didn't agree with their way, they just lecture me and tell me I'm wrong. You can tell they only preach what they're taught and do no research on other health, diet, and training methods. I'm not saying I know everything, but at least I do the proper research and don't patronize those who do things differently.
I have heard that people have though this place is very expensive and that they recommend unneeded testing and vaccines and so forth. After trying them out for myself I completely agree. We have been asked to purchase unneeded and over priced vitamins, re-do our vaccines because they said they weren’t given on the right dates, which was untrue come to find out and every time we walk through their door they have something to recommend or another test they want to give. I am honestly annoyed that they want to charge “emergency fees” when our dog gets injured and has to come in even thought their schedule is pretty open. I understand they have bills to pay, but I think they are going about it the wrong way. I do think they are very knowledgeable and very nice, but I just can’t seem to walk out of there without spending an arm and a leg, and I have never dealt with this at any other vet. I wish I hadn’t moved so far from our last vet.
I have never had a bad experience with Shelton Veterinary Center. The Vets and Staff are always very kind and caring toward my four dogs. I will say however, that they are expensive. It may just be the case that you get what you pay for. In this case, I always get great care for my dogs.
