Just an amazing place: After our 14 year old Black Labrador Bird was diagnosed with a serious case of Glacoma (85 eye pressure when it should be around 13) our regular vet told us that the eye would need to be removed. We took Bird to Cornell and he was treated by Dr. Eaton. The eye pressure is down to 13 and our dog still has two eyes! Incredible stuff. I would highly recommend them.
I had an emergency with my Kitty. Worst time in my life,,, May 3rd at 2:30 am... Have not gone one day since with out the severe pain in my heart and the visual of how they brought him out to me.. With no warning on what the sedative did to him and how his condition drastically changed from when I got him to the facility!! (I was away from him for at least 2 1/2 hours // which I never got a real sound explanation of why the time and my Vet at "Just Cats" could not understand that time frame either ) Especially, when I also made it clear to the doctor I wanted my cat alert instead I got the extreme opposite. (since I did not know when I rushed him there it would be the end) That visual has not left my head :( I never ever had such trauma (there are so many specific details that are too much to put on here but I did send them a prior letter (Cornell) and have all the info. / details at his other Vet "Just Cats" in Stamford which has everything in his file. This was my final thoughts that I sent to the Vet Facility...... (Cornell) I really Hope No One else Rushes their pet to CUVS in hopes of everything being ok and then kept away from their Pet for over 2 1/2 hours (when it is an extremely critical situation) Then on top of being separated from their pet for so long that their physical condition turns so horrible/worse partly because of the fact the pet is not with their owner (so definitely adds to the stress which will also effect them physically), that goes without question in this case since Ricky would never let anyone hold him BUT me. And then to have your pet brought out in such a traumatic/horrifying state with no warning at all. This all occurs when you feel that you are doing the right thing by rushing your pet into his cat carrier in the middle of the night to an emergency facility not thinking at that moment that this is it. (meaning the end of his life) AND then what happened in that period of time that was so critical. I am sure it could have been handled in under the 2 hours from when the decision was made and his physical state would have been less traumatic. AGAIN I PRAY this NEVER HAPPENS TO ANYONE ELSE. I will never fully recover from what was done. (ADDED on August 3rd 2013) STILL suffering everyday with the trauma of how they brought him out to me.. and it is exactly 1 year and 3 months after this ER doctor did not realize how the sedative was going to effect him WHEN he was NOT supposed to have one to begin with !! and like I stated just to insert an IV to KILL HIM HE TORTURED MY RICKY/ I found out later as my cat was fighting & struggling to breath while he was DOING THIS TO HIM!!! THE LAST HOURS OF HIS LIFE TO BE SO HORRIBLE IN FEAR and rapidly deteriorated as he was struggling //THE WORST THING I Did was bring him there AND see that horrible way they finally brought him out to me BASICALLY DEAD KEEPING HIM AWAY FROM ME SO LONG !!!! THIS PAIN IS STILL SO RAW
My friend Shari is still devastated on what happened the night she brought her beloved Ricky there close to midnight and the one request she gave the doctor was to be able to say goodbye to her Fur Baby,,(she did not know it was the end) But instead she got the complete opposite as they brought him out gasping for air and could not even look at her. It still haunts her now that vision with no warning after they kept him away from her for almost 2 1/2 hours And then when she spoke to the head of the facility on a conference call She seemed more concerned about a law suit and Shari had to tell her it is about HUMANITY// sad reality they took a part of her life as well that day / pure devastation!!
Still suffering with what happened the night I brought Ricky in and how that emergency room doctor went against my final wishes when I did not know when I took him there it would be the end of his life!! I will always have this deep pain until I die and the vision of how he brought my beloved cat out with NO Warning as well,, all so sick and the pain just as real as it was yesterday!! :"( A few people including my mother had said about reporting it to one of the TV stations what had happened or more // a big part of me was completely destroyed that day including my health,,,
What a wonderful place! We vistited both this facitlity and the emergency vet facility in Norwalk and chose to bring our puppy here because of the staff. From the inital phone call to make the appointment to the front desk staff to our surgeon Dr. Kramer - everyone was competent, knowledgeable and above all - nice, which you just dont seem to get anywhere anymore. Our puppy was attacked at the dog park and as a result suffered a leg injury. Dr. Kamer performed the surgery and followed up with us many times, even going so far as to view our dog on a webcam that we set up to check in on him. This is definitely the place to go!
