FHA is a dangerous place for your petcare. No continuity of care, sloppy testing. Above average pricing and below average care. Do not recommend. Go to another NW vet practice if you care about your pet.
We recently had to bring our cat in with a broken leg from a dog attack. The first few visits were fine, with the first visit being around $750, but we were quoted before hand and told that all subsequent visits for the broken leg would be less...generally around $150. After the second visit we were handed over to Dr. Glassman, who is apparently a specialist. While going over the work with my wife he neglected to mention that his work would actually cost just under $1000, completely destroying the previously quoted amounts. When I called to dispute this, referencing the sheet we've been given on every other visit stating that we needed to be called for work totaling over $500, I was told that the fee is correct for services rendered (although not authorized) and that no refund would be made... Although I wasn't told this directly by Dr. Glassman; I was treated to a series of extremely frustrating conversations with three separate front desk workers who were all very sorry that they couldn't help.
They are just the kindest, most efficient team of Vets & technicians. They aren't cheap but the care they give our pets is just outstanding. I've been going to Friendship for ten years now. They took excellent care of my senior cat and were exceptionally supportive of me when it was time to put her down. Now that I have two new cats, they've been the best in making sure the new additions to my household are healthy and well cared for.
This place might be expensive, but they saved my cat's life. Zara had a very unexpected renal failure and they were able to take her immediately, run a speedy test and immediately put her on urinalysis. She had to remain on it for 2 days, but it turned her condition around. I was able to visit her as much as I wanted, feed her and comfort her. Now Zara has a prescription for special renal health cat food and I can order it from their online store. Overall, I am very satisfied with the responsiveness and friendliness of the staff. I do, however, recommend getting an upfront "worst case" estimate for your pet's stay, otherwise you might be unpleasantly surprised at the end.
I've been bringing my dog here for the last three years and they have seen us through a myriad of disorders that effect an older, large breed dog. Several of the doctors are phenomenal. And when we unexpectedly had to put down our recently adopted one year old cat after she was stricken with a terrifying and fast moving disease, everyone was kind and compassionate. In my experience, just like when I go to the human doctor, sometimes the key to having an affordable and positive outcome is to ask lots of questions, remain calm, and specifically ask about the end goal of whatever procedure/test is being recommended. Some of the doctors you see are actually interns who will recommend unnecessary tests because they are young, inexperienced, and eager to heal your animal. To be fair, if I don't tell them, they don't know that I are comfortable with one 25$ test as a starting point for further initial diagnosis vice conducting a 500$ comprehensive battery of tests to rule out everything under the sun. Additionally, if your animal has a chronic disease and requires daily medication, order from an online pharmacy as FHA does mark their prescriptions up significantly. And, some of the desk staff can be quite rude. On the flip side, some are so polite and cheerful it's hard to imagine how they sustain it all day long. In sum, there are trade offs. I like that I can almost always get a same day, non-emergency appointment and the vets will see patients from 8am to 8pm at pretty much the exact time of the scheduled appointment. There is parking and both of my animals have always received quality care. We've seen probably half a dozen different vets since we started coming to this practice, but that is partly a function of wanting same day appointments. If seeing the same vet is important to you, you may want to consider going to a smaller practice for your animal's routine health needs.
