Do not send your pet there! I brought my pet cat there because of her nose bleeding due to excessive sneezing and after checking her, the vet and technician told me was allergies and needed antibiotic shots and medication that will cost me $160 excluding the pet visit which is $80. I was told it was better to let her have antibiotic shots so that she would feel comfortable and not sneezing throughout the night and will stop the nose bleed. So I paid $120 for two shots which I didn't witness them administer to her because she was brought back into the back room to be administered the shots. I brought her back home and less than an hour she was sneezing in the car ride, sneezing out blood in my home. This morning I found her nose bleeding. When I called the clinic to express my disappointment and concerns, I was told by another receptionist that antibiotic shots doesn't work immediately, it will takes few days? What gives? Two different story and I felt that I being conned into thinking the shots will help my pet to feel better throughout the night and now, I was told a different story? I wouldn't go back again! NEVER!
Pet Parents, please don't take your animals here! I took my golden retriever puppy here with stomach pain and whimpering. The vet was dismissive and did not seem to care about my dog. He did X-Rays and determined that he had an obstruction and needed immediate surgery, luckily I decided to get a second opinion. My regular vet took one look at the X-ray and knew immediately there was no serious obstruction and diagnosed him with Constipation and a pulled muscle. Some pain medicine and a rice diet cured it after a day he was back to normal. If your pet needs medical attention after hours, Blue Pearl Emergency clinic is also on Lumsden.
I'm giving this office two stars rather than one star because the tech who I spoke with the most was friendly and sympathetic. Sadly, the vet and the 2nd tech were not even that. After giving a thorough history of my dogs health (chronic allergies and ear infections) I waited for the doctor. He walked in with tech #2, glanced at me and then glanced at my pitt mix's hugely swollen ear. Vet tech #2 bent down in front of my dogs face and held his mouth shut. She turned to the doctor and informed him Moose was snarling at her (I would have too in his position). She said she'll get a muzzle, and I informed her that she should give it to me, since she didn't have the ability to even sit next to him without a negative reaction. The doctor said "don't worry about it, I know what the problem is" then strolled out with the tech on his heels. I waited a while longer until tech #1 came in and gave me a $1000 estimate for surgery for his ear hematoma. When I asked what the other options might be (I don't want to be heavy handed if it's not necessary with treatment) I was told that this was the only option, but I could save money by not getting the $30 test to find out what bacteria was in the ear. Needless to say I paid the $123 for the office visit and some pain meds and am taking Moose to our regular vet today. He may need surgery, but if so he will get it from a warm, caring doctor with techs who clearly love their jobs and their patients. Bell Shoals Animal hospital is where we normally go, if you need a recommendation. I will be going to Blue Pearl for emergency care from now on.
This place is wonderful! Not only did I feel comfortable leaving my baby with them, I felt involved. The Vet/Techs kept me in the loop it felt like a family. Such a wonderful place and not to mention half the price of the bigger emergency vets in the same area! I suggest this amazing place for all pets!! Thank you guys so much for all your help!
