Last Monday, my Bichon Frise started vomiting. So I took him to another vet in Cocoa since it was closer. Long story short, they misdiagnosed him with stomach bacteria, prescribed expensive medicine (about $60 worth) and sent us home. The medicine worked one day, so I went back to Cocoa Vet on Wednesday. But after being advised that I should have called first, I got up and left and went to Rockledge Animal Clinic who saw me right away. Too bad I didn't go here first, but chose convenience instead because after checking his gums, which were pale pink, the Rockledge vet asked me did the other vet do the same thing on Monday because my dog was displaying signs of anemia. After ordering an immediate set of x-rays, they found my dog was bleeding internally and his body was feeding on itself. Despite their best efforts from monitoring him overnight, giving him fluids, a blood transfusion, surgery and even CPR, my dog died because he was just too weak by the time he arrived. I've since researched my dogs illness and I discovered he had every symptom of anemia including a heart murmur, which the Cocoa vet noticed but chalked it up to an upset stomach.
