i felt my dog was in adequate care coming here until our last visit for his yearly vaccinations and a slight stomach disorder. first "red flag" was the doctor telling me his temp was normal that day, i was with maverick the entire visit his temperature was never taken. to draw blood is misery for maverick as well as myself having to watch some of the techs inability to do so without repeated pokes and misses. blood results i was to be informed "as soon as we get the results"...56 hours later i receive the first voicemail from the doctor. in attempting to reach the doctor was put on hold EVERY TIME at length, responses varied from the doctors with a client, will put a message on his desk, or i am forwarded to their answering machine! The doctor calls again...48 hours AFTER his first voicemail " not an emergency" please call Shores...what for, to be put on hold AGAIN. My dog deserves better...so does yours.
When my 17 year old cat Ginger became sick, I wasn't sure where to take her. I had a small budget, so I went with the place that I could afford the most. I'm very very happy that I chose Shores. They understood that I was a poor college student and couldn't afford unnecessary treatments. They taught me how to give my cat injections at home. They were very kind and supportive when I was told about Ginger's terminal condition. And, when she was euthanized, they went out of their way to ensure that I would get her ashes back in time to scatter them in beautiful NC when we went. Dr. Ortiz even sent me a card in condolence. I cannot recommend them highly enough. They are really kind and they really care.
I cannot say enough good things about Shores animal hospital. They have by far the friendliest staff, and cannot do enough for you. They have gotten me into the office within an hour of calling any time I wanted to take my dog in (even when not an urgent visit). You barely sit in the waiting room before you are seen. Dr. Ortiz is so sweet and caring. They called me the day after a visit when my dog had been gnawing at her tail just to ask if she was doing any better. What vet has ever done that before -- how nice! I've been to a number of vets in Gainesville and wish I had gone here first. They have reasonable rates, give free doses of flea prevention with purchase of 6, have top notch customer service. I can't say enough about Shore's -- if you go to another vet, consider giving Shore's a try!
I can't give a high enough recommendation of Shores. Both of our dogs are adopted from a local shelter and one in particular has had some fairly serious health issues since we got her. Dr. Shores, Dr. Ortiz, and their staff were incredibly helpful and understanding. As always, money is an important issue for us, and we were very happy with the quality of care we received for the money we paid. As several other people on here have said, this is the first vet's office that ever called me multiple times to make sure that my dogs were doing well. Again, this place is incredible.
I used to go to All Cat's Healthcare because I had a really special cat that I wanted the best for. After dealing with all cats, never getting to talk directly to the vet, getting charged for an arm and a leg, I decided to try somewhere new. I went to Shore's simply because it was close to my house, but I would never go anywhere else again. Not only was I greeted nicely and promptly, they took extra special care of my cat since he had FIV. We immediately got seen, talked directly to the vet, offered affordable care with several options and they do not make you feel guilty if you don't want to run every single blood test in the world. They start small and then work their way up. Unfortunately, my cat was already going downhill from the FIV by the time I first took him to Shore's. We had to put him down shortly thereafter because he was too sweet of a cat to let him suffer. It was a very emotional time, and they would call every couple of days to see how my cat was doing. Not only would the receptionist call, the VET would call as well!!! Everything was handled so professionally and caring when we had to put him down. I was as pleased with the experience as one could be. I left a very satisfied customer, but was about to receive a surprise. A few days after my cat's passing, I got a hand-written card in the mail. I was shocked to open it up and see that the vet had taken the time to write me a card of well wishes and condolences for my loss. It was simply amazing. I have a dog that is now exclusively taken care of by Shore's. This is the best vet!!!
