I was always very satisfied with the quality of care that my pets received at Animal Medical Clinic. The vets always took an active interest in my pets' health, and the prices here are much better than any of the vets I've visited in Tallahassee. My dog was heartworm positive when I got her, and Animal Medical Clinic did a fantastic job handling the situation. Her treatment went smoothly, and the tailored the treatment to my job rather than using generic standards. The treatment for heart worms involves two injections. After each injection, the dog has to refrain from running and exercising, or doing anything that would get their heart rate up, for 4-5 weeks. While the vet I visited in Tallahassee wanted to follow "standard" procedure (one injection, wait 5 weeks, a second injection, wait 5 more weeks -- a total of 10 weeks of inactivity!), the vet here proposed an alternative. Because my dog was young and otherwise healthy, she suggested doing both injections over a period of two days, followed by a single 5 week rest period. Since my dog is so active, she felt that trying to keep my dog calm for 10 weeks would actually be riskier than giving both injections at once. This is the route we ended up taking, and everything turned out great! I'm glad that the vet here actually took the time to evaluate my particular situation, because it certainly made the treatment much easier on my dog. Anyhow, I would highly recommend this clinic! If I hadn't moved, I still be bringing my dog here!

I live in Jacksonville, Florida I recently took in 3 puppies to a vet clinic in jacksonville. One had stopped eating, had vomiting and diarrhea, the other two had lose stools but were still eating. The vet we saw after a 2 hour wait, took the sick ones temp, and checked for worms, the other two were checked for worms and given vaccines. These pups had killed a squirrel and the sick one had eaten some meat off the leg of the squirrel about 10 days prior to getting sick. I was told he had an obstruction and was given a referral to a specialist to remove the obstruction from his gut. These pups were not examined, no one even looked at their ears or eyes, I was told they had NO worms,they were rushed thru do to the work load of the office. I payed my 40bucks for the shots, and went to my car where we called the specialist. $110 just for the consult, plus xrays. I called another Vet. He looked at the sick puppy got a stool sample and came back with a diagnosis of Parvo Virus...then one of the seemingly well pups that just had her shots at vet clinic # 1 began to vomit. He tested her, the test came back positive.... He was very caring and told us they needed to be hospitalized, the cost would be close to $1900.00. OMG, and we only had a few hours to do something. In desperation I called my mother in Tallahassee. She always takes her animals to Dr. Purvis. He is reasonable and very current on procedures. We went directly from vet #2 in Jacksonville, to Dr. Purvis in Monticello Florida. They took in my very sick one and the newly sick one, started them on IV's. When Dr. Purvis got to the office, he checked out my pups. They have a protozoan disease. Billions of little critters are moving in their stool, Plus they "Do have Worms" roundworms to be exact, and a little mite infection. My most healthy pup is on Metronidazole and was put under quarantine at my mothers and the others were hospitalized. I am quite disappointed by the vet in Jacksonville, The roundworms were easy to diagnose and they missed it. I wasted valuable time waiting there when my pup could have been being treated and exposed alot of other dogs to the highly contagious disease that my pups have. Thank Goodness for Dr. Purvis in Montecello Florida. I will be back to Dr. Purvis for their spay and neuter. Hide Full Review
