I took my cat, Virgil, to this clinic. He had lesions, a limp tail, and was lethargic. When I took him in, they told me his bladder was the size of a grapefruit and that they'd like to run a few test on him, but they'd have to put him to sleep, so I should drop him off the next morning. I did, and three and a half hours later, I received a call from the vet telling me that my cat died! She said that he went into a seizure, then into cardiac arrest after the bloodwork and before x-ray. My cat was not prone to seizures. Even in the lowest point of whatever it was he had, he did not have a seizure. She told me my cat seemed "spaced out" when I brought him in and asked me how he seemed to me. To me, he seemed better than he'd been. To me, despite his over-full bladder, he was more active and less irritable. My after-thought on her remark was "Cats aren't like dogs. They don't jump around and make noises and get easily excited. Cats sit there and take things in. This woman is an idiot." She asked me if I wanted to take him home, or if she could perform an autopsy in case he had some sort of contagion. Thinking of how he'd been acting before, and of my other cats, I agreed, though more than anything, I just wanted to see him again, and stroke his fur. She also asked me if I wanted to have him tested for rabies, however, I would not get him back. Honestly, I didn't expect to get him back after the autopsy, and I don't want him back after he's been taken apart and sewn back together, no matter how much I wanted him back. So, I agreed, even though he'd already been given a rabies vaccine, as she explained to me that sometimes an animal may have an immunity to it. Shortly after, I received another call from another woman who was asking me for payment. They killed my cat, and I still had to pay. Furthermore, a mass cremation costs $35 and you don't get the ashes back. We had to pay an extra $200+ so we could have the ashes. We spent $583.97 for them to kill and burn my cat. What a service. Later, the vet left a voicemail on my phone, because I was too upset to pick it up. She found the autopsy "inconclusive". There wasn't anything she could detect there. She said it "must have been something neurological" and that she was going to send some brain tissue to whomever it is that tests for rabies, which will no doubt test negative. I could be wrong, but I think I'd have a good idea if my cat had rabies. It seemed to me that she wanted to avoid anything that could possibly implicate her, perhaps afraid I might attempt a lawsuit, which I'd no doubt lose because I signed a paper stating that I understand that the clinic is not liable for my pet's death, as I'm told that the substance used to put animals under can be risky. I don't want their stupid money anyway. I want my cat back, but I guess that's wishful thinking. My rating for this clinic? 0 stars, but I guess I can't post that.
First of all these people are a JOKE! My sisters dog almost died because these people have miss diagnosed her many times. She went to other hospital and they hospitalized her and had to even give her a couple units of blood transfusion and had pneumonia. My mothers dog has been limping and they keep giving her medications and referring her to a specialist. first of all how do you refer out without an x-ray to even see if she needs anyone else! My dog went in for a spade and a hernia repair. she came out looking like she went to a butcher and to find out that they couldn't even find her hernia are you kidding me? and don't let them fool you about the wellness plan they will tell you everything you want to hear about it, you will always have to pay for something because every time you go in they find something else! they tell you its a month to month plan but try to cancel the plan and you are responsible pretty much for everything, They really are a joke and we will be switching. DONT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE WE DID AND GO TO THIS PLACE.
I had the worst experience with Bandfield in Port St. Lucie, its a long story but to make it short they messed up on my dogs spay surgery and after 3 days of taken my dog back and going to another emergency clinic and realized my dog need it another spay they wanted to charge me again for the surgery, I had her on the wellness plan and after the surgery had wasted what a surgery would of cost and on top they wanted to charge me again so I took her out of there and went to another vet which I ended up paying to have it redone and finding out my dog from the surgery had a hygroma inside and was bleeding reason why my dog was so much in pain, they neglected to care for my dog and my family. I will need never go back and the owner and staff could care less.
