I had a similar experience as a few of the other reviewers. Went in for standard tests and procedures, left with a 500 dollar bill. They do things before asking. They even slipped my cat a pill without a word. It was a dewormer, but they never asked if they could do that. When I looked over my bill, they charged me 35 dollars just to clean his ears. I know how to clean an animal's ears. I could have done that myself. Don't go here unless you want to be broke.

We've brought all of our pets to Animal Medical Clinic for care for more than 10 years, and we are extremely satisfied with the service we have received. From the technicians to the veterinarians, everyone has been kind and considerate with both my pets and my family. I love that I can call the clinic and the person who answers the phone knows me and my pets, and can help me get in touch with my preferred doctor. The staff have been very accommodating with financial issues, and have helped me to weigh quality of life issues with compassion. Thank you for all you've done for us!

I don't look for the cheapest doctor when I need medical care. I'm not going to the cheapest place for my dogs. The staff at Merle Hay are kind and wonderful people who really care about the girls' well-being. That's what is important to us.

This place is a rip off. Do not go here. They told me that my dog had diabetes and kidney failure. The male veterinarian began to show my X-rays and told me that they needed to keep my dog overnight. The bill $800.00. Later found out that x-rays don't determine diabetes. My dog was so traumatized from this place. He would shake uncontrollably every time I took him there. Next the brunette female veterinarian told me that my dog needed his teeth clean and the bill would be $700.00. She was talking so fast and at the same time trying to hand we a form to fill out to apply for a credit account to pay for the teeth cleaning. Fortunately, I went to another veterinarian and it was around $140.00. After a few visit my dogs has stop shaking uncontrollably. DO NOT GO HERE.

Over the past 40 years my family and I have been taking our dogs and cats to the Animal Medical Clinic of Merle Hay in Des Moines, Iowa. We are very happy with how our animals have been treated and we highly recommend them as veterinarians. We also board our animals there when we go on vacation and that too has been a very good experience. They have been there for our family when we have lost pets and they are very compassionate and understanding through it all.
