I found a tiny baby kitten up inside my car one day and immediately fell in love. I had never owned cats before so when I needed somewhere to take him I found the Cat Clinic. When I walked in, it was clean and friendly. They were quick but patient and kind with our little kitten and I wouldn't go anywhere else. Dr. Hayes was so gentle and answered all my questions. I would highly recommend going here. I've been to plenty of vets before (I'm an animal lover, lots of dogs and horses over the years) but this one stood out in my mind!
Dr. Hayes and staff are skilled and extremely compassionate. They took great care of our very sick little cat and were particularly patient with two overprotective "parents." We appreciated how gentle the Dr. was, especially since our cat was in quite a bit of pain. Highly recommend. Also, it is definitely a plus that there are no dogs, especially when your cat is sick and on edge.
I've owned cats my entire adult life and have always vetted them religiously (you shouldn't have them if you don't/can't care fully for them) and Dr. Hayes is BY FAR the most gentle vet I've ever had, ever, anywhere. In the Iowa City area we made the switch from Eastside Pet Clinic about 6 months ago after their answer to all cat-related problems became "herpes" and the vet's level of human relations kept going down with each visit. We were so dedicated to Eastside (on account of their fantastic front desk gals) that we struggled with the idea of switching vets, but after the 1st visit to Dr. Hayes all doubt melted away. I didn't realize how UNcaring and UNcareful the Eastside vet had been until we met Dr. Hayes, the difference was staggering. He has since successfully treated 2 of our 4 felines and will be the doc for the other 2 when their vaccination dates come up or they are ill, whichever comes first. :-D
LOVE the Cat Clinic of Iowa City! I moved to Iowa City in August of 2010 and as soon as we arrived I had to take my cat to the vet for a health issue. I won't name the "other vet clinic" at Kirkwood and Gilbert that I took my cat to initially, but the vet there was god awful. He was a loud talker- and I mean loud talker. He scared the fur off of my cat who just traveled for two days in a car and moved into a new house. Seriously- who talks that loud and aggressive around cats. Fast forward to when I found the Cat Clinic of Iowa City. AWESOME. No dog smells, nice staff, quiet calm people/environment. The best for cats. I was sad to leave my vet at the Albuquerque Cat Clinic when we moved, but the Cat Clinic of Iowa City is just as good!
I have 3 cats and have taken them all to the cat clinic (several times each). We have always had a very good experience. Everyone there is excellent with our pets and very knowledgeable. I am very, very attached to my cats and would trust them with only the best.
