Dr. VanderGaast is a true gem. She saved my beloved Corgi from a life-threatening illness that four other vets failed to diagnose. We have taken all our dogs to her for six years and we couldn't be happier. She and Lucas treat us like family.
Nadia is great and does such wonderful work. If she branched out on her own or was smart enough to get a job at a better place I would bring my pets to her for the rest of my life. HOWEVER, that is the only good thing about this place. Lucas Van Orden is running this place into a massive pit of horrible pet care. Stay away or you and your cocker spaniel will be dragged down as well.
Previous visits have gone as smoothly as could be expected with a hard-to-handle cat, but today's nail trim was far more stressful than it should have been. The assistant was scruffing the cat in a way that looked as if it was choking him and about to cause injury, and he (my cat) ended up screaming in pain and fear like I've never heard before. He always growls and yowls, but today was much worse. The other person (who didn't introduce herself - was she a veterinarian? a technician?) seemed annoyed with my cat and actually lectured us on her way out about letting his claws get too long. Dr. Coots seems friendly and competent, but I was less than impressed today with the people who saw my cat and will probably not go back. Also, I would not recommend going on a Saturday morning - too crowded and chaotic with a bit of a long wait.
More compassion is needed if you are to run a pet care business. There are many places to go that far outweigh the negatives of this place... It's not finished, multiple animals end up fearing getting things as simple as grooming performed. With so many other places to go - treat your animal right and find a vet that more often than not, creates a positive environment for it's animals and it's customers.
They took my dog in on a minutes notice even though his shots had lapsed, they were able to give him all of his shots and board him for the weekend. completely painless process. yes, they are remodeling..big deal. very pleased.
