These people are awful and should not be allowed to perform these services. My mom, a vet tech of 20+ years took my 11 month old great pyredane to the Bethalto Spay Clinic to get neutered today. 1. They told me the wrong price.. i was told $156, including a vaccine, they take only cash at the beginning of the appointment. Although I verified this with the girl i spoke with, they charged $165, and an extra $10 for a pain shot that they dont tell you about. The price is not what im complaining about, but i specifically asked bc i dont carry that much cash and I was told $160 would be plenty. 2. They told my mom that we need to socialize him more because he did not like the girl... he goes to the dog park weekly and has NEVER had a problem with any people or dogs. He also lives with and 8 year old German Shepard and a 4 yr old cat. As well as spends times with my friends dogs, bbqs with many people, etc... 3. She told my mom that she "hopes you didn't pay for my dog because he is mutt." WOW!! I dont care what mix he is.. mutt or full blooded, I love my dog and he is so smart, sweet, and loving. I paid an adoption fee for him and as far as I'm concerned it was worth every penny. If I could afford to take him to our normal vet to get fixed I would. I regret taking him here. They have no care or compassion for the animals they work with. They are rude and disrespectful. I was in shock at the treatment my mom and my dog received. I plan on reporting them and letting everyone I know how raunchy this place is. Go to STL.. save up and go to your normal vet..dont go here

My one year old golden retriever mix got spayed here today and I was very impressed. The lady behind the counter was very friendly and put me at ease about the operation. They have great customer service and the price, you can't beat! $80 for a 74lb dog. Every other place wanted over $250. So far things seem to be going well. She is very lethargic and has done nothing but slept all day. Walking into the house she fell to the ground and I had to carry her in. I'm sure it's just the anesthesia though. Hopefully the recovery time is quick. Thank you for the services at a fair price.

My sister took her dog there. When she picked him up from a simple neuter operation, he collapsed when he walked out the door. She ran back in and asked what happened and if they could help, exact quote from clinic, "Just pull him. He' s being a baby, we see this all the time." RED FLAG ONE. She rushed him to the nearest vet who said his temp was so low that he was in extreme hypothermia and should have been in a coma. The skin of his penis was sewn to his actual penis and swollen 200-300%. She had to transfer him to a larger vet because she had never seen anything like the condition he was in. After two surgeries, they realized that the clinic had sewn a lymph node, causing all of these life-threatening problems. They were appalled and got no response from the clinic when they tried to inform them of the problem. They should be shut down. Though you can argue they are doing a necessary service, at what cost? PLEASE DON'T TAKE ANY ANIMAL HERE AND REPORT ANY UNACCEPTABLE PRACTICES OR BEHAVIOR TO THE LOCAL POLICE, they are already on record AT LEAST once...

I'm not sure what happened to make others leave such a bad review of this place. They provide a very necessary service at a low-overhead cost. My experience with veteranarian clinics is that you pay MUCH more for EVERYTHING. As the owner of 2 new dogs, I am looking for ways to save on any pet expense without comprimising the quality of care for my pets (love them like family). The people at this facility were very friendly, very nice and they performed the service exactly as they said they would. We opted to pay the extra $10 for pain medication, but we still paid less than half of what we would have paid at a full-blown veteranarian facility. My sister-in-law is involved in animal rescue and she recommended this service to us. She has taken more than 20 animals to this facility - never had an issue. As of this writing, we had the procedure done yesterday. So far, everything has gone perfectly. My pups are bouncy today (though they are walking a little gingerly...). Thank you Spay Clinic for providing such a good service at an affordable price!

The spay clinic has been around for years. I remember taking my cat there when I was a child and I still take animals there. As a matter of fact. My dog, cat now have both been taken well care of there. I came across this link looking for the phone number because a kitten found us and I need to take her and get her spayed. The employees are full time employees elsewhere and love animals.
