Unfortunately my puppy knocked over a bottle of sleeping pills while I went to the kitchen. In the time I left and came back, he must have eaten a handful. I put all the pills away, but didn't realize that he actually eat some. I thought I caught him before doing so. He acted perfectly normal for about 45 minutes before he started acting differently. I rushed him to this ER. They came back with an estimated quote to treat him of over $2600. I pushed back on the price and they came back with a 2nd quote of $1400. Why the immediate $1200 difference? I was clearly upset about my dog and the guilt I felt for not acting sooner and being more cautious from the start. But I still cannot get a comment Dr. Barry said out of my head. She said, "we don't call the police. My only concern in him" (the puppy), as if to suggest that my dog eat some type of illegal drugs or that I purposely acted in a manner to involve the police. Complete BS statement that irritates the hell out of me. I was extremely upset, but let that comment slide in an effort to refocus the attention and conversation on my dog. Unfortunately he didn't recover or respond to their attempts and had to be put down. Maybe this place is great and I just got there too late. Maybe there was absolutely nothing that could have been done. My bill ended up being $900 plus, including crazy charges like $75 to call poison control and $18.50 to administer rectal medication. I can't help but wonder how things might have been different if I just agreed to the original charge. Would the effort had been different? Would they have not wasted time debating the treatment cost? Would those precious minutes have matter at all? Can't help but wonder if they knew it was too late and were simply going through the motions to collect the money. It was roughly 5 hours from the time he arrive to the time he was put down. I was crushed. Still am. But can't give this place a raving review or anything close to one when I feel like the only thing they were concerned about was seeing how much they could get away with charging me for. Just my opinion.....
Spectacular place. Our dog, Buster, was at the brink. And they brought him back and now he is happy, healthy and normal. Drs. Barry, Volbrecht, Klein -- and the entire staff were so wonderful and caring, and most of all, knowledgable. Blessings to you all!
SO thankful for this place! I took my dog there late one night as she'd swallowed an entire piece of rawhide and was chocking. It was traumatic but the staff did a great job of reassuring me my little frenchie would be ok. The vet managed to literally save her life and I'm beyond grateful for this place!
After visiting a vet that told me my dog was as good as dead in an emergency situation (ingestion of possible poisonous material), the wonderful people here calmed me down and told me the opposite. The dog needed a lot of fluids and a watchful eye. Not only that, they are extremely affordable and presented me with multiple options to ease my mind. Highly recommend to anyone needing an emergency vet!
Wait to see the doctor was 1 1/2 hours. Wait after seeing the doctor was another hour. Zipcar reservation had to be extended 3 times. The doctor was good and we agreed on treatment. Receptionist, after being told that Z-Car reservation could no longer be extended...got me out of there quickly. Returned the car with 2 minutes to spare. Improve the waiting times and rating will change.
