Do NOT be fooled by some of the reviews on here. They make sure your babies are taken care of. They also help pet parents by sending out personalized reminders to help parents keep up to date on vaccinations. VERY reasonably priced. The new place we just left to come back to Little Apple charged us around $400 for work we could have gotten at Little Apple for $200. This is the only vet hospital that has met the needs of both Bella and Maci, when she was alive, in the Manhattan-JC area. They are very sensitive toward abused animals, as well as kind and respectful to parents. Neither my husband, nor I, have never experienced any kind of hostility or judgement and understand a softer method of treatment should be used when treating abused dogs. In fact, they were very respectful to us when we moved and recently took us back, listened to our concerns, and were sensitive to our situation. The ONLY negative comment I have is in reference to our boarding experience. There have been several times in the past (like seriously over 2 years ago), that we have picked her up and she was very dirty. The staff was honest with us about her not hardly leaving her kennel, which we appreciated. While we were understanding of the lack of staffing for this particular area of Little Apple, we still decided to go elsewhere for our boarding needs, without having to pay extra for 20 minute increments of play time (max 45 min). Bella's a Jack Russell. She needs more time than that. Also, the only time the dogs get time out of the kennel (even to pee) on Sundays is from 4-6. OTHER THAN THAT ---> The Vet services are unbeatable and affordable, and parent concerns are met respectfully and appropriately.
My wife and i almost didn't try here because of the reviews on google. I'm glad we didn't let them deter us from checking them out. The negative reviews couldn't be more wrong. We have had nothing but good experiences with this vet. I compare with friends who go elsewhere sometimes and our bill is always cheaper and they are really friendly. They will go over everything they are going to do and how much it is going to cost before they do anything. We recently got our dog fixed there and she was insanely hyper and ripped open her stitches, the vet saw us immediately and put a staple in it, at no charge. I don't know what the people who have written negative reviews are talking about, best vet i've ever been to.
Our Cat, has been boarded , gotten check ups, xrays of her heart and teeth cleaned. The doctors and assistant are very friendly and made sure we were fully informed at all times. We pay more than we did at her old vet, but the quality of care is 100% better.
Its hard coming into a new town every few years and trying to make informed decisions on where to take your pets. I wish I had started here. Not only was the staff more knowledgeable but friendlier. The prices were what I would expect. I find a lot of vets talk down to pet owners. This was really not the case here. I'm extremely glad I switched vets but sad the one I started with gave me a reason to. I would and will recommend Little Apple to any military family that asks.
We have used this Vet for our two dogs for over 2 years now, never again. Today my husband took them for their "yearly vaccinations". One of my dogs, my smallest animal, has an allergy to a particular vaccine. She is not to be given this. It is noted in her chart. My husband made sure to mention it before the dogs were seen. They said they had it in her chart and the vaccine would not be administered to her. The vet DID in fact give her this vaccine. They did NOT tell my husband this. We found it out when reading their paperwork when he brought them home. I called and the vet said she noticed the note in my dog's chart "after she gave her the shot" and "administered benadryl for free". I asked what I needed to be on the look out for and when I should bring her in (her siblings and parents siblings have died from this particular vaccine). The vets response was "she probably won't have a reaction. I wouldn't worry about it, it would have happened already if she were to have been allergic to it.", which is NOT what I asked. I wanted to know what symptoms I should be mindful of, what I should be keeping an eye out for. She was dismissive, uncaring, not apologetic in the least, and not informative. She was also not fourth coming with this information which has infuriated me. We should have been informed the moment this mistake was made. We are currently monitoring our dog, who is acting off, and will likely be taking her to an emergency vet soon. We will see if this mistake costs her her life. I will not use this vet again and will be making a formal complaint. This is unacceptable.
