I have a now 9 month old Chihuahua, when she was about 3 months old she fell from our bed and fractured her foot in 3 places! We took her to an 'Emergency Animal Clinic' (what a bunch of HACKS!!!!) and they took x-rays and put her foot in a soft splint. This cost us almost $1000!!!!!! When we took her to get checked up at Blue Cross Animal Hospital her foot was completely crooked and her pads on her foot were almost facing the ceiling! When we called back to see why it was this way they told us that a soft splint is not guaranteed and there was NOTHING they could do! The amazing Veterinarians at Blue Cross have helped us so much with her. They placed pins in her foot and have her foot back to almost completely normal! They were very patient and they took every step necessary to get her foot to where she could use it again. I could never thank them enough for all they have done for my dog and for us! They are all very friendly and care deeply for the animals and the people who walk into their door! Every staff member from the front desk clerks, assistants, and the Veterinarians is just amazing!
I went to Blue Cross for the first time last month - because of budget reasons. My cat was suspected of having cancer in a leg, and I had gone to Metropolitan Veterinary Specialists and Emergency Service in Louisville, KY for some help - and as kind and professional as that place seemed, they had quoted me for a biopsy and ultrasound for $1200+ ! which I could not afford. Later, in my agony, as I pondered if I should fork out the dough, I saw an ad for Blue Cross on TV and they promised better prices and excellent care - and they were right. The head Doc is still practicing well into the age when many would retire. But that means experience! Anyway, he looked at my cat and suggested just a biopsy for $400! I think the reason is simple - Metro was a very new, very commercial facility in St Matthew's (a fancier part of town). Blue Cross is not in the nicest part of town, nor are their facilities picturesque. However, the staff are every ounce as sympathetic, empathetic and concerned as any I have seen. Sure, there is no TV in the lobby, nor magazines. And they got some decor that is decades old. But who cares? Turns out my cat DID have cancer, and as I write this I await to go pick him up after his back leg was amputated. And as sad as this makes me, at least I know I will not be paying through the nose for the service. Who needs financial strain on top of emotional strain? Anyway, long story not-so-short, I will probably be bringing all my pets here from now on. I HAD been going to Chenoweth Animal Hospital for regular care (and they are very nice, and very awesome!! - and all women, for some reason...) but it seems you can get the same care at Blue Cross for HALF the price of other leading facilities. Check them out. I have asked many customers in the waiting room their opinions and they all agree - excellent care. ........and ignore Izaak Macon's one-star review below. The guy clearly has control issues.
I took my dog to Blue Cross Animal Hospital today to get her a Rabies vaccine. When I inquired how much it would be to license her they said it would be cheaper if I had her spayed. I let them know I do not plan on having her spayed. Both women up at the desk asked why I wouldn't have her spayed. One of the women said with a condescending tone that she would if she were me. She was so so rude I will never take my pets to this Hospital ever and will recommend no one else should. It is my right to not spay or neuter MY animal and I should not have received a condescending attitude because of it!!!!
We took our cats in for mange. The older Vet did skin scrapings and even though he didnt find evidence of mites on the scraping, he said that you dont always find the evidence and that he believed they had mange. He gave us shampoo, and antibiotics, and said that he was going to have his secretary order lime sulfur dip and for us to come back in 2 days. When we came back to pick up the dip the younger Vet had decided to change the older guys orders and cancelled the lime sulfur order. The younger Vet didn't even see our cats, but he wanted to give them shots of "revolution" for fleas. He flat out refused to help us get lime sulfur dip or shampoo and the only thing he was willing to do was more flea treatments. We ended up ordering the lime sulfur dip ourselves, and it worked, our cats are mange free now. The older Vet here is excellent! He knows his stuff and really tries to help.Staff is super friendly! However, the younger Vet is an arrogant "know it all" that is only concerned with making money. If you go here make sure you use the older vet or be prepared to spend lots of money.
My family and I have used Blue Cross Animal Hospital for cats and dogs for many years. I have read all of the reviews, which spurred me to write. Yes, the building is not new or glitzy but it is clean and highly functional. Why does one go to a vet? Because of the building or the attention paid to your pet? That seems obvious to me. I could not be more pleased with the care and attention Dr. Campbell and his staff pay my pet - highly professional and I have a very healthy pet. I recommend Dr. Campbell and Blue Cross Animal Hospital without exception.
