Animal Care Hospital has been caring for our herd since 2004. Recently we had to put one of our cats down. I struggled mightily with the decision, and frankly, am still second-guessing myself. Dr. Lindsay wrote the most amazing sympathy card. They understand and care about our pets. Why anyone would even consider another clinic is beyond my comprehension. I wished my primary physicians were as sympathetic, caring, and proactive as the staff at Animal Care. My remaining pets will live long, productive lives thanks to these wonderful people. Thank you!
Switched to Dr. Beth a few months ago when I wasn't happy with my long term previous vet. She took wonderful care of my cats and dogs. She prepared me for the near future with my oldest dog in such a graceful way. Well, 4 months later my dog passed. Everyone was so caring and thoughtful and treated me like I was the only person who had ever lost a pet. Then I received a paw print from my dog on a card with a wonderful saying a few days later. I lost it. I cant recommend any more highly. Thank you guys.
LOVE DR. LESLIE and STAFF! You are a Savior! You Saved My Gizmo! We moved here from North Carolina in December and started using Lakeshore Veterinary; Dr. Greely which was a major mistake! I have a Miniature Schnauzer that is 1-1/2 years old named Gizmo that is just a joy! I made an appointment to have Gizmo's teeth cleaned on April 11, 2013 and opted for the blood work to be done BEFORE Gizmo was to be put to sleep. Well, as it turned out Gizmo's liver enzymes were extremely elevated (463). Dr. Greely still put my 11-1/2 pound baby asleep and cleaned his teeth!!!!!!!! I have talked to three other vets (Gizmo's vet in North Carolina, my friend's vet in Knoxville, TN, and another vet in Mandeville) and all three other vets said there is NO way they would have put Gizmo to sleep with that high of a liver count. I think Dr. Greely put Gizmo to sleep thinking he was totally healthy as he showed no clinical signs then did his blood work while he was asleep! I even told Dr. Greely that I felt like I was being lied to about it. After that, I took Gizmo back that Monday to have a Bile Acid Test done and it came back 17 times higher than normal. By this time I am frantic! We did ultrasounds on his liver, x-rays on his heart......... Dr. Greely put Gizmo on Denamarin and changed his diet from Royal Canin to Royal Canin Hepatic and said we were not going to do anything else since Gizmo had no clinical signs. Well, I waited two months and took him to Animal Care Hospital on June 11, 2013 (thanks to Gizmo's groomer Mrs. Jean in Mandeville). We saw Dr. Leslie (whom is a God sent and doing what her calling is) and upon the first visit Dr. Leslie drew a little blood from Gizmo's neck and sent us to MedVet in Mandeville. Dr. Leslie told me she was 99.8% sure that Gizmo has a liver shunt. She comforted me as she could tell that I was really upset and starting to cry. She let me know that Gizmo would be fine and that this is fixable. Dr. Leslie even gave me a hug before we left. June 13, 2013 was our first visit at MedVet. Dr. Stroup ordered an Ultrasound & a Splenoportogram of which proved Gizmo's liver shunt. Gizmo was given several medications to prep him for surgery with Dr. Bufkin on June 28th. Gizmo was in the hospital for three days of which we got to visit him on the 29th and 30th. The people at MedVet are Absolutely Fabulous! Thank you Dr. Leslie at Animal Care Hospital in Mandeville for saving my Baby along with all of the Staff and surgeon Dr. Bufkin at MedVet. Today is July 29th and my Gizmo is doing GREAT! We go for another Bile Acid test in 6 months.
The kindest, most empathetic vets ever. Really great people. Dr. Bill cried when we had to put my dog to sleep.
My family & I have brought our dogs & cats to Dr. Bill & Dr. Leslie for YEARS now & they have always been SO kind and caring which really means a lot to us because we love our babies. My first dog Noel suffered from kidney failure in 2006, and she spent 5 days in their care at Animal Hospital and had to be put to sleep. It was a VERY difficult time for my entire family & Dr. Bill was so genuinely sweet & comforting. He is an amazing veterinarian. Although this was a sad moment for all of us, we are very thankful that we had him to help us through it. I'm now bringing my 5 month old ferret (yes! they treat ferrets!) there for her shots & a check up! I live in Baton Rouge now and I'm driving all the way there because there's no one better people! Trust me! I wouldn't take my pets anywhere else.
