We dropped off an adorable kitten who had found its way into our home, to see if it was healthy and/or needed shots. The kitten didn't look like it had been living on the street, wasn't at all scraggly or lethargic. This kitten was a beautiful dark gray and could run very, very fast. Since the cat we already have is very social, and seemed to be spending time with the kitten even when it seemed too shy to spend time with the humans in the house, we thought the kitten would be a great playmate for our cat. When we dropped off the kitten, we were told he was still too young to be "fixed", but that they would watch it to see if it might be possible for it to be tamed enough to live in a normal household rather than remaining feral. Not that it seemed really feral to begin with. It made itself quite at home, roaming around the rooms as long as no one was in them, and eating/drinking from bowls we set out. Basically, we just wanted to be sure the kitten wasn't carrying any diseases it could pass on to our cat. So we were devastated to learn, when we called less than a week later, that they had put the cat down. They killed the cute, adorable kitten that we were looking forward to welcoming into our home, for no other reason than: "He didn't seem to be adjusting." They didn't call first and ask if we would be willing to take it back, regardless of how he was adjusting over there. They just killed it. We think this is utterly reprehensible and would not recommend this facility to anyone, for any reason. And I will definitely be maiking all of my animal welfare related donations elsewhere.

SHAME ON YOU! for putting that poor animal down. There was an alternative available to you but your organization preferred to stand on ceremony and self-righteousness. This will cost your organization and I hope you are forced to downsize and I hope the first to go are the idiots who made the decision. Though my guess is, you'll get rid of dogs first.

Our family's cat had recently passed away of old age, so we came to the SPCA looking for a new kitten for us. Our cat had been with us for almost ten years so the death was quite devastating for the children as our cat had grown up with them. So when we arrived at the SPCA the facility was state of the art. So after two hours of searching we had found the prefect kitten for our family. After talking with the staff they had started asking us several questions on our pas experiences with cats. We answered the questions honestly and told them of the uneventful death of our cat, and they acted as if it was our fault. They denied us our kitten and told us we were unfit to take care of an animal. These people are extremely rude and it is perfectly clear that the best possible life for the animal is not in the SPCA's best interest. PAWS is a much more friendly service, I recommend them a thousand times over more than the SPCA.

Our experience at the New Orleans SPCA was stellar! The place was warm and inviting and very clean. The animals were well cared for and the staff was attentive and helpful. We found our cute little pet dog-exactly what we wanted. She was spayed, shots updated, micro chipped and given heartworm and flea meds. She was in perfect condition. We were extremely impressed with the whole process. Everyone involved was very kind and professional. When we left with Demi aka Hadley, everyone clapped. Made us feel good. Thanks to all the wonderful people at the New Orleans SPCA.

I whish there was an option for awful! The facility is a really nice place but the people who run the place should be ashamed.I thought it was about the animals but I recently learned it seems to be all about politics and the money. I can only assume it falls on the president Anna Zorilia. I think her only concern is for herself and not the animals.
