I had an emergency with one of my dogs and BSVES was literally a god send. We had been visiting from out of state in nearby Bristol, RI, and on the way home to CT we stopped for a coffee, leaving our two dogs in the backseat of the car for three minutes. In that time, one of the dogs jumped up front -- over a doggie barrier, mind you -- and chose to chow down a bag of grapes (toxic to dogs) over a bag of dog treats. It was a Saturday and late in the day, so I immediately became super stressed knowing how difficult it would be to find an animal hospital that was open. A quick Google search showed how close we were to Bay State. When I walked in, I was greeted by a triage tech. I told her what had happened and she said right away "I'm just going to take him in back to start treatment." Long story short: my darling little dog received an ER exam, a medication to induce vomiting, was given SQ fluids and baseline bloodwork was done, all for less than $200! I spent more in the following days once we were home at his usual vet, but this hospital ensured his wellbeing until normal business hours. That's less than some of his wellness visits! After assessing him, the doctor came out to discuss the plan. She was very thorough and detailed. Because we lived out of state, it was very important that all the records be sent to my normal vet, which I was worried would not happen. But the next day, everything was faxed over. The staff at this hospital exceeded my expectations. I hope to never have to use them again, but if you find yourself in the midst of a pet emergency, do not hesitate to bring your furry loved ones here.
We had an avian emergency. One of our birds was very sick and appeared to be dying. Of course, this was on a week end when no one's around. We called Bay State Veterinary and they told us to come right down. When we arrived our bird was seen immediately and we were shown into an examining room. The techs and the vet were terrific. They treated the bird and set us up with pre-filled meds. At a later date they re-filled them for us. I was (and am) very impressed with the staff and the facility. If and when we have an emergency involving any of our animals, this is the place we're heading to.
They kept on saying my dog was overdozed on grass. I haven't had anything to do with pot since I was 16 and my sig.other cant even get a contact for fear it will show on a DOT exam .By the way I'm 57 yrs old now. We told them repeatly that she had a rabies shpt that day. When I took her to her regular vet it was determined that my dog is allergic to the shot.
They took care of my dog right when I got their. Not really a long wait. I was there for probably a little over an hour.
