I have a 10 1/2 year old dog and found a lump on her. I realize that she is getting old so I took her to Dr. Brooks who told me that we would have to do surgery to determine if the lump was cancer or not. I specifically asked him if that is the ONLY way to determine what the lump is and he said YES, we have to cut it out and then cut it open to see what it is. I knew this was not correct as I have had animals growing up and have not had to have the lumps cut out with surgery. They can stick a needle in to get out cells and examine this way. Dr. Brooks wanted to charge me over $700 for surgery. Why would any vet want to put an animal through unecessary surgery?!? I DON'T KNOW but I will NEVER take my animals to see Dr. Brooks ever again and will tell everyone I know about my experience! By the way...the lump was not cancer...just lumps dogs start to get as they get older!
