I researched all the vets in the Annapolis area, and Four Legs was the first one to welcome my request for a visit and q and a with one of the docs. They understood that I had a few special needs dogs and was looking for a veterinary office that focused on the whole dog and not just the parts that need attention. I appreciated their understanding and gave them a try, and I am very happy with my decision. I've been working with Dr. Lindsey Laird from my first appointment and could not be more happy with her. I brought a foster with major anxiety and stranger-fear to see her, and she was patient and relaxed with him, and managed to coax him out from under/behind me for his exam. She took the time to earn his trust, and between the two of us I was able to choose the best forever home for him. The staff is warm and welcoming, and their follow up calls are always friendly and professional. Give them a try - I think you'll choose them too.
A truly wonderful practice! We switched here over a year ago with our two senior dogs. I knew I wanted to be at a place that when the time came, they would go in dignity and that it would be a positive experience. We see Dr Porteous and she is wonderful with excellent bedside manner and truly cares! We recently had to go through a cancer diagnosis with our 12 yr old dog that months later led to his passing. Four Legs was wonderful every step of the way from the diagnosis, options for surgery, and honest opinions on what we should or should not be doing- they really care about your pets quality of life. Eventually, when our dog passed, he was able to go in dignity and the process (although sad) was handled with the utmost care & concern. Two days later we received a beautiful card from the entire staff and when we went to pick up his ashes, they had taken the time to frame his paw print...something I am so ever grateful for! Our 10 yr old dog still goes here and receives exceptional care!
I have 4 grandcats that love going to visit Four Legs. Have been going here for the past 8 years and had to put some cats down over the years. This place is awesome. Sent me a sympathy card and a picture frame of my cats paw. They treat us like family.
Four Legs Animal Hospital is an AWSOME facility! I have brought my animals to them since they first opened and I have watched them grow and flourish since then. The waiting room and exam rooms are absolutely spotless. The staff is so incredibly friendly and experienced, they are always willing to help or answer questions you may have. The doctors are very knowledgeable and professional. They explain everything to you, in order for you to totally understand your pet's options. I have had to have a couple of surgeries for my dogs, after we had exhausted all other alternatives. My dogs always were treated with the utmost care and have never had any problems after any surgery. The office calls the next day and make sure that they were recovering well. I had to have one of my dogs put to sleep. He had cancer and was in incredible pain. The staff and doctors were so companionate and caring. He was put to sleep in a peaceful pain free environment. They even gave me a special remembrance token. I cannot tell you enough how much I appreciated their kindness during such a difficult time. Dr. Bassford has done a fabulous job in creating a perfect atmosphere for your pet. She has trained her staff to be the best at what they do and the doctors she has there are I think the best in the county. If you are looking for a perfect place to take your dog or cat, look no further. Give Four Legs the opportunity to welcome you into their family!
For regular check ups and updates Four Legs is a great place for your animals. However one Vet in particular is not. Dr. Laird did surgery on my dog for a benign lump on his back, which they stitched horribly and sent him home with his incision infected, then blamed me and my parents saying we were the ones who caused the infection. Then when they bandaged him up they put STICKY adhesive around him, which then slid down his back to end up attached to his incision. It took me and both of my parents 1/2 hour to get the adhesive off his incision. It was Thanksgiving and the office was closed. We took him back that friday and got welcomed with Dr. Laird saying it was his fault and ours that his stitches were ripped open and that now they would have to put staples in his back. We had to pay MORE money to put staples in, that in the next 3 days we took him for a checkup and after she "Cleaned" out the incision we saw that 3 of the staples were no longer keeping the incision closed and it was red and inflamed again. We have been keeping him on a leash, lying down, no playing, inside, and immovable as possible. Dr. Laird butchered my dog; we will no longer be going back to Four Legs Animal Hospital.
