Dr. David Vaughan is a highly competent veterinarian who I have entrusted my pets' care to since he took over the practice many years ago. Having 3 dogs and 3 cats, I can attest to the overall calming presence Dr. Vaughan has with pets and people. He has always been a patient listener when I have had concerns to speak with him of. He is also a caring caregiver to his office cats, who needed a home due to noncontagious medical concerns. I always look for Junior, who I consider Finksburg Veterinary Center's mascot. He normally is there to greet as well as say goodbye as I am checking out at the counter. My pet's well being is Dr. Vaughan's first and foremost concern, and I know he genuinely cares about all animals. If you have a concern about prices, his prices are fair and competitive. My pet's deserve good quality care, with a veterinarian that is genuinely concerned about their health. Dr. Vaughan fits that description, and I feel confident taking my beloved pet's to him for their continued care.
I'm a huge animal lover but there has to be some practicality involved. I found a lost dog and took him there to get checked for a microchip. The door has a sign that says "all cats must be crated. If you do not have one, we will provide you with one" and that put me at ease because this dog, although very friendly toward people and most other dogs, was aggressive toward cats. We went inside and had to immediately leave because there were 3 cats and a dog just roaming around the office. We waited outside for them to scan the chip and we were given a phone number to call. I had no previous experience with microchipped animals and was not familiar with the procedure. Apparently neither was the employee. She did not take down our information and the number she gave us was unreachable, leaving both my family and the original owner distressed. Upon returning to get additional information, we once again had to wait outside. When we told her that our dog was aggressive toward cats, she told us" Then you're outta luck." We finally got the information we needed (despite her providing us the number to a singles sex chat) and we have adopted the dog as our own. I will never bring my dog back to that place. I should have expected such disrespect and unprofessional behavior from a "vet's office" between a tattoo parlor and an liquor store. The woman working at the desk has a bad attitude. Don't believe me? Call and find out.
In the past few years I've watched this vet office decline in just about every way possible. Where once you and your pets were treated like valued customers, now you are treated like a dollar sign. The receptionists are robotic and when they do show emotion, are rude - extremly rude and incompetent. The office and exam rooms are dirty and unsanitary. It is such a shame to see a doctor who once cared nickel and dime his patients to death. From unnecessary and expensive testing to costly procedures, his prices have gone up up and away. I''ve taken both my dogs to see Dr. Vaughn since he first opened his practice in Finksburg but no more. It took some looking but now I take them to another reasonable, caring, vet with a staff to match.
