They saved my Corgie, Crikkit!!! Excellent care. I cannot say enough about Opossum Pike Vet. Clinic, Dr. Schaden and his staff. My Corgie had gotten into the trash and consumed several pork rib bones. She became very ill and we were not sure if she had a perforated intestine. She stayed under their care for a few days and with their help she was able to pass it without surgery or any internal damage. Whenever I call they are so polite, caring and able to get us right in when we need attention. I feel their prices are fair compared to several others in the area. I would rate them the BEST in Frederick, MD.

Our beloved dog had gone to this practice most of his life--and it may have cost him is life. He was seen by two different vets in the practice who each gave him medication for a cough. The drugs interacted and caused his lungs to fill with fluid. He actually drowned in his own secretions as my husband rushed him in to their office. I also rushed there, arriving minutes too late. When I asked the vet thru my tears what had happened he said "we think it was heart cancer". No kidding. I will never, ever forget him telling he that in my grief. "Mal practice" is a strong word, but you be the judge.

I have used this clinic for about 14 years. I had a 19 year-old cocker spaniel and had worked my way through 4 other vets prior to visiting this one. They offered me very balanced choices as we were helping our very old dog live out her days in comfort rather than the aggressive and invasive treatments recommended by our previous vets. I now have an 11 year old, very energetic dog with Addison's disease and again, they have treated her in the same balanced, conservative manner and she is happy and healthy. They also have kennels for their patients and I have used them many times. Their fees are reasonable. I have always had my calls returned in a timely manner and their office staff is more attentive than my own doctor's office!

I felt that they were more interested in charging us for exams than they were interested in caring for our pets. Just flew my cats from the West coast. Came here because of a recommendation. The woman at the desk went on and on about how their first appointment was $71 and may or may not include one vaccination. When I reiterated that they cats just flew (having had certificates of health with included updates on all vaccinations) she continued to reiterate that the $71 price held firm even if there wasn't a vaccination. I told her I don't care about price (we have pet insurance), I'm just looking for a good vet. I tried to get our Rx food filled and they said that they weren't a pharmacy and they would have to examine the animal before they would give us food. I implored them that they just got off a 7-hour flight and after having shots and exams just prior and that one of them has seizures in her crate and I didn't think it was necessary to put her through all of that since we have a recent script from her previous vet. Another woman came out and told me it was state law in Maryland. I've since called three other vet practices and they all would be happy to fill our Rx food without requiring an unnecessary and redundant exam first. They weren't polite and the entire situation felt awkward. It is so weird that when I told them I was looking for a new vet that they immediately started haggling about price. Why didn't they tell me about the doctors? Or their specialties? Or their history in the community? Instead they seemed focused on money. Red flags!
