First, yes the place is expensive. But what the (bleep) do you expect??? They are open 24/7. That means doctors and staff are there all day, everyday. Their building is heated/cooled all day, every day. The equipment they use is also always on. And that stuff ain't cheap to operate, I'm sure. Because of this, their overhead has to be astronomical, but if you want someone to take your pet that is able to handle any situation - on demand - then guess what? You're going to pay for it. Also, the facility is very nice, spotless, clean, etc. It's not warm fuzzy feelings that pay for all that. I'm tired of seeing the whining comments about the cost. Secondly, we never had anything but great service there. One of the doctor's was a bit aloof, but aside from him, other doctors have been great and the office staff were very warm. They were also very upfront about costs and any estimations they had to make. They were very caring towards us and our kitty, were quick to take care of her, and took exceptional care of her. They told us to call every 20 minutes if we want to check in & when we picked her up, they were equally as nice and helpful. If we ever have to rush our kitty to the emergency room again (I'd rather it not happen EVER again, but if it does), I'm so grateful VCA is there.
If I could give this place 1/2 a star it would still be too much. I took my Yorkie to this facility today 4/19/14 and I had quite an unpleasant experience. The prices were ASTRONOMICAL. While completing the initial paperwork, a staff person took my dog to the back. We described his symptoms to the staff person and we were escorted to an examination room while my dog was in a crate in a separate room. The vet came in and explained the various reasons for his symptoms and told us that she would need to take xrays and bloodwork to rule out certain things. We asked about the costs and she told us around $700. She told us that the prices were high because "they were an emergency facility". We explained that it was not affordable for us to continue with the services. So we declined any care and we walked back to the reception area. We asked the staff person for the cost since he wasn't examined and she told us she didn't know "if we were being charged". The woman who took him to the back returned with discharge forms that basically covered the symptoms WE provided as well as his TPR - temperature, pulse and respiration. We were charged $135. We were only there for about 30 mins. After my girlfriend paid the fee, the staff person asked us what was our "relationship"? We asked her why was that important and was it necessary? She claimed they needed to know because my name was listed as the primary owner of the dog and my girlfriend paid for the minimal service of TPR - temperature, pulse and respiration. I was absolutely offended. I told her that we would NOT provide that information because it was NOT necessary that they knew. What difference did it make what our relationship was? They already had their money. This was insulting. I will NEVER come back to this facility nor would I EVER recommend them to other pet owners.
Other than the front desk receptionist no one was very friendly. Their priorities are money 1st and then your pet.
Worst vet ever!! I was in TEARS when i left. My puppy choked on plastic, I took het there only to find that she vommitted the plastic. They told me an xray would be needed to see if anything else was lodged in her throat. The xray only showed if metal was there and nothing else. They charged me for an xray that did not show if paper, plastic or anything else was lodged,. They handed me a bill for opver $600 dollars. I told them that she did not need al of the other treatments bcs she was fine. The doctor DID NOT care about my puppy and only thing they cared about was OVERCHARGING and taking advantage of me. $394 dollars for nothing!!!!!!!! for a visit and for an xray that could not tell whether anything else was lodged in her throat!! THE WORST VET EVER!!!!!!!
Do not take your pet here. I had an animal in distress that was put to sleep 20 minutes after arriving. Total cost was over $1500 with this place charging more to euthanize my pet than the cremation service did to cremate her. That wasn't the worst part, I left three numbers for them to call when the cremains were back. No one ever called. So my grief was extended by three weeks due to the inconsiderate and terrible service provided by this place. Would rather drive 10 Hours to take my pet some place else than to visit this place which is right across the street from my office.
