I loved this Vet when Dr. Grattan and Dr. Sarah Lowe were the vets, even enjoyed the staff behind the desk. We've only been going here for a couple short months, and all of a sudden I show up for my puppies shots and set up his neuter and POOF; there's some young jerk that's a vet there now!! Thanks for letting us know that the other vet's left!! That guy; whoever he is; is a total JERK. The whole time we were in there, all he did was tell us how horrible our puppy is. When he gave Mongo his shots, he didn't even put the table down to put him on it; COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL. We've switched to the Brighton Banfield, but I've heard horrible things about their vet's, too. Who knows, maybe our original vet staff moved to Brighton!?!? DON'T GO HERE; THE ENTIRE STAFF OF THE WHOLE STORE CHANGED, I SWEAR OVERNIGHT, AND THEY ARE A BUNCH OF JERKS. I've even observed their groomers; I'd punch someone if they handled my babies that way!! Good thing I do my own grooming!
I brought my 6 month old all-white husky in to check her eye which had turned all grey overnight. The vet performed a test and told us it was nothing to worry about, that she had either bumped her eye or had something in it. She prescribed us gel medicines to get the swelling down, which we had to administer throughout the day in our dog's eye. When we returned for our follow up check up, and nothing had improved, the vet admitted she "hadn't taken all the opthamology courses," and would get someone else to take a look. Well, turns out our dog has glaucoma which is also apparently VERY common in all-white dogs, and her vision in her eye had been gone since our first initial visit. We had felt so safe with our "preventative care plan" and now she has a prosthetic eye :( LUCKILY Blue Pearl Vet was recommended to us, now our dog is getting TRUE preventative care in her other eye. It's a shame Banfield's vet couldn't realize our all white dog had glaucoma, such a common thing in all-white animals, earlier. They simply aren't qualified in any sense.
I am very impressed with this place. I took my newly adopted french bulldog there after a vet at the Animal Kingdom told us she was " super healthy". they found out that in fact, she was very sick with infection she had developed at the breeder's place (after being spayed). The doctor was incredibly knowledgeable, she ran various blood test on my dog and within 40 min.she was put on antibiotics. Will not look for any other places to take my girl to for her check ups.
I gave a 2 rank because I will say Banfield is Very Good and affordable, they care about the animals and do their best to help them, They are affordable because most of the vets there are 1st or 2nd years out of schools. I know this because i took my dogs their for years and each year there was a new vet. However I will say they cared for the animals and did their best to help some may shy from the inexperience but they know their stuff. I will continue to go here in the future.
Banfield lures you in with it's relatively inexpensive pet plans, but will cost you so much more over time. It doesn't seem like a coincidence that what was initially just a teeth cleaning for my cat turned into a multiple extraction. Well, since they said that it was necessary, I believed them (though I'm kicking myself for it now, especially since my cat's previous vet (AA Cat Clinic--MUCH better place btw) never said anything about it. To make a long story short, they botched the extraction and my cat couldn't eat. At that point, I knew I was going to lose him. To make his passing easier, we wanted to get an IV fluid drip for him for a couple of hours. We refused the tube-insertion surgery for tube feeding. We left for an hour, then came back, and lo and behold, they had done the surgery, claiming that we had wanted it done, when we specifically told them we didn't. We signed for the IV drip ONLY. So on top of everything, my poor cat had a tube sticking out of his throat, unable to even meow, drugged out of his mind, instead of having a calm passing. Banfield is probably the worst place you can take your pet. DON'T DO IT!
