My Dachshund Mix is cared for and groomed at Animal Kingdom/Creature Comforts. It's a one place does it all establishment.(Doggy Doc, Pet Grooming and Boarding) I am totally comfortable with everyone I deal with there. They have a genuine concern for animals, without any of the Doctors or Staff putting pressure on me to do unnecessary tests. My dog has been there numerous times probably because I am a little neurotic about him never being sick or in any kind of pain. I want him comfortable at al times. I am hesitant to hand him over to just anyone. Right now he is there being boarded for a week or two and I will sleep well knowing he is there. The place is kept spotless, and the appearance is very warm, and on a huge piece of property. There are walking trails I didn't even know about until today. I did an overnight test stay two days ago and of course my dog was happy to see me pick him up. However his stay didn't seem to have any effect on him at all. When I brought him back today he was not showing any signs of "please don't leave me here". He walked right in too his quarters and is there now with plenty of room to move around in a nice sized kennel. I am confident he will be well cared for and kept occupied. The price for his stay is very reasonable. I highly recommend them for all pet needs. I will add to this or write another review upon my return. ( today is 07/26/2014)
I dropped off my little 5 pound Pomeranian Rocko the last weekend in June. They dropped him and Broke His Leg. Then put him back in the cage unattended. He suffered all night without care. When I was contacted in the morning he was next door at the Vet. I spoke to the groomer and she told me all the details. My thoughts were that the person that dropped him was more afraid of losing her job than the welfare of a helpless dog. The only thing the Vet next door cared about was telling me they were not connected to Creature Comforts. Funny because that is why I used them. I thought if anything happened he would have close by medical attention. She is also married to Creature Comforts owner Steve Marsh. This place looks good on the out side but truth is they really don't care about animals or have a emergency plan. I spoke to Steve Marsh he didn't even know or care about the details. I am crying in Florida and he was saying to me I had a horse once that had a fracture and I didn't know it. I just lost it and screamed at him this is a 5 pound dog that was left all night alone to suffer and you compare him to a horse? I called my Vet Dr Ajaib Dhaliwal at Michigan Avenue Animal Hospital. I told him what happened, the first thing he said to me was do you want me to pick him up? At that point Anna from the front desk was already driving him to Dr Dhaliwal. Anna was the only person that stepped up to help from Creature Comforts and I greatly apreciate her help. From then on Dr Dhaliwal took care of everything, made him comfortable did the Xrays and dertermined the surgery needed. Dr Dhaliwal stayed late on a Saturday night and did the surgery, he put a plate in his leg. By the time we made it home he was recovering nicely. He is doing very well now and walking fine. Creature Comforts never contacted me after in any way to ask how Rocko was.
Our dog was boarded recently at Creature Comforts and came home with Kennel cough. We not only had a coughing dog but ended up with a vet bill. When we spoke to the owner of the kennel, he not only was rude but really didn't care about us as a customer or our animal at all. And I wonder how many animals he boarded that went home with kennel cough that weekend. His only focus was the paper we signed in July which I guess is valid for a year. The paperwork should be signed everytime you board your animal not once a year! He made us feel like this was all of our fault. He took no responsibility. We have used this kennel before, but will not use it ever again. We will be taking our business elsewhere.
My Husband and I always board our Jack Russells with them. They are super nice, flexible and really care about animals. They check pets records for shots well in advance of booking. We are very happy with them and have become loyal clients (after using them 3-5 times per year)!
I boarded my dog at Creature Comforts last summer after she had a second knee surgery one month after her first. She was there for 6 weeks (!!) while I moved to a new place. They cared for her like she was their personal pet and they gave her so much love and tlc that she was completely happy there! They are honest and compassionate professionals and I HIGHLY recommend them. They're wonderful!
