I should tell you up front that I have never actually been here. My wife and I adopted a very sweet beagle from a shelter a 7 months. In that time our dog has been to the vet nearly 20 times. The part that makes me mad is there is nothing wrong with our dog save some 2 ear infections at the very start. My wife has been the one to take the dog in and I really feel like she's been taken advantage of. I do not doubt that the vet and staff want what's best for the dog. However, nearly 20 visits in 6 months is just insane. The final straw was being told we just paid $180 to have her teeth cleaned and nails trimmed. This maybe the best Vet in the world but I think they took advantage of my wife and her concern for our dog. We will not go back
The service is bad, it smells horrible, looks disgusting and my dogs hated it. I have three dogs and one of them LOVES everybody. He is a very social dog and never has problems going to the vet or even getting shots! I had trouble getting him in to Eastside Animal Hospital and had trouble getting him to go near the vet. For the first time EVER in 5 years he was avoiding the vet and didn't want to go up on the table. My other dogs have stayed at Eastside Animal hospital for two weeks while we were on vacation and were TRAUMATIZED! They were dirty, had poop all over them and my white dog had permanently turned brown around his mouth and on his back from stress. I took them to another hospital and the vet said they were under a lot of stress wherever they had been and the white one turned brown in certain areas from stress. Since my horrible experience at Eastside Animal Hospital I have switched to another vet and am very happy now. My dogs actually enjoy going there and the staff there remember my dogs names and the reason for their past visits each time. The new hospital is much bigger, cleaner, costs more but is totally worth it because my dogs are so much happier. I think that when choosing an animal hospital you never want to go somewhere again when your pet is shaking and traumatized. I do not know if Eastside Animal Hospital physically abuses the pets that stay overnight there, but I know that they neglected my dogs and terrified them. My dogs were only six months old and were not even 10 pounds at the time and I cannot believe anybody could do something like this! I am seriously considering a lawsuit against Eastside Animal Hospital because my dogs personalities have significantly changed since their stay there and are now nervous around strangers ALL THE TIME. It makes me so angry that a veterinarian could do this and I hope that nobody else has this kind of experience.
I adopted a beagle a year ago today and Dr. Seager's office is the only place I have taken her. They may be on the somewhat expensive side for the East Lansing area but compared to what my family has to pay for similar services in Ann Arbor, it's a bargain! Moreover, I am incredibly happy with the level of service. When I adopted my dog from the shelter both of her ears had horrible infections and the staff at Eastside Animal Hospital were incredibly helpful in clearing them em (took over 3 months - they were that bad). I would emphatically recommend this office for your pet and am doubtful I will ever find a comparable office when I move.
Dr. Seager is an amazing vet and the staff is phenomenal. I am surprised by some of the reviews. What I think is odd about them is that people complain about the cost of services. You have a choice. You can take care of the animals you choose to adopt, or not. But the services Dr. Seager provides are more than fairly priced. They only provide services that owners okay. Her office may not be a little outdated in its decor, but it most certainly is clean and sanitary. If you care about your pets, you won't find better care than Eastside Animal Hospital. We've been customers for a dozen years and are constantly amazed with the quality of service and care.
