Wonderful, knowledgable, friendly staff. This month my dog got kennel cough (from daycare) and also swallowed an entire bottle of her otc anxiety pills. They got her in right away for the cough and had someone on call to talk me through the emergency over the phone. I live in Jenison but it is worth the drive to holland (and every dime) to see them.

In two words: Hydroxyzine Pamoate. That's what they keep prescribing my dog, no matter what the dog is sick with. I'm frustrated by this vet (and partially because my dog keeps getting sick) because trips are pretty expensive. Here are the pro's and con's: Pro's + Friendly staff. + If you want to get your pet loaded down with medications it's a great place. + Effective treatments (for the most part). Con's - The price! Very expensive. - Repetitive medications that appear to do nothing. Maybe they are effective? I was pretty mad when I went to the medicine cabinet and dug out three bottles of the same medication I just bought that were pretty much full. Overall we'll probably stick with them, mainly due to the very nice staff and the fact that they take good care of our dogs when they are sick. However I hope that they would ask whether or not a medication has been used successfully in the past and check to see if we have some at home. This would allow us to not feel as ripped off when we buy yet another bottle of Hydroxyzine Pamoate. Just grateful they didn't try to sell us more fish oil pills again...

I'll admit it--I'm not the easiest person to work with, especially when it comes to my kids and my pets. My dog, Patience, had gained an abnormal amount of weight over a period of just a few months and was very lethargic, so I decided to take her to West Ottawa Animal Hospital (formerly Ark Animal Hospital). Dr. Heitman and Dr. Swift took their time with Patience and tried over a period of several weeks to find out what was wrong with her. A;though they did not discover the cause of her symptoms, they did provide a referral. Dr. Heitman followed up to check on Patience awhile after he'd given the referral. So, I can say this clinic is conscientious about providing good care and the staff is friendly. East location is "old" but it is by no means dirty. And age is no way to judge the quality of the place--we wouldn't bag on the Statue of Liberty, the White House, the Sistine Chapel, etc. because it "so wasn't this century".

Dr. Wilson and his staff have cared for my golden retriever for over two years and I would never go anywhere else. My dog greets them like long lost friends and is never afraid, even after many shots and a dental cleaning. The personal touches are outstanding with follow up calls from the staff after visits and greeting upon entering and leaving this high tech and clean vet office. Prices are within range and customer service is outstanding. My dog gives it two paws up! - A dog lover at heart‎

I will never forget the first time I walked into Ark Animal Hospital. Very welcoming, and most importantly CLEAN. You can probably eat off the floor. I have been to so many other vets that smell like animals, but this place smells great!! And, I love all of the educational displays set up in the waiting area. I have been taking my dogs to Dr. Wilson for several years. It all started with a misdiagnosis from another vet. I went to Dr. Wilson for a second opinion. He had my dog straightened out in NO time at all. I would never go to anyone else. If you are looking for a vetrinarian, look no further!!!
