We took our aging cat named Maggie who developed complications with her mouth here and were amazed by the excellent care. We had previously taken her to another vet who wrote her off as a lost cause. The other vet was very rough with Maggie whereas this one handles her with respect and care. It has been over a year since her minor surgery and Maggie has long since made a full recovery. Some people complain that they aren't always the fastest people here, but they are well worth the wait!

For common vet services, the place is worthless. My dog spent nine hours there while I was away at work. When I called to check in, the doctor hadn't even seen her yet. Dr. Leis has bit off way more than she can chew. That being said, I acknowledge the office is one of the best for surgery. Just not the office for me.

We presently have 3 dogs and have lost 3 in the past 2 years due to old age. Everyone of our dogs goes to Dr. Leis and we have never had an issue. Her and her staff always show professionalism and have gone above and beyond for us and our pets. Prices are reasonable and they are very close between their estimates and the final bill. Just wish they would finish the renovation soon though. That is the only negative I can think of.

I just took my pug there to get checked, i recently moved to Saginaw and he had a ear infection. reading the reviews i figured this would be a good place, when i walked in i could tell it was a older place not in the best condition but ok that's fine. we got taken to the room and my appointment was at 3:00 we waited a long time we got the vet tec in there and went over wight and checking him out. They told me that his nails were really long, that i knew he is very bad about getting his nails cut, they said they could cut beyond the quick and cut them down i said no because i don't want to hurt him, we do the exam and my dog started freaking out a bit with getting his teeth looked at and she was very negative on the way that she corrected him to stop, we get done and they go get his nails cut, we leave get going down the road and i notice he is bleeding everywhere, get him home and still bleeding, call them and had to take him back in to get the bleeding to stop, they cut them way way to short..my car looks like someone got murdered in it with all the blood and the carpet of my house had bloody paw prints, i am not impressed with this place at all and will never be going back

On July 13, 2012, the grace of God led me and my very sick cat to Agawa. My Ellie's records was requested from my previous Vet and Dr. Leis was quick to see that my Vet had mis-diagnoised Ellie and that the Vet was just treating her for mouth problems. Her last blood report six weeks ago from this Vet clearly showed that my cat was in renal failure and my ex-vet's treatment for her mouth was contributing to her serious condition! Ellie was within a couple days of death! Dr. Leis went into action and saved Ellie's life. No mention of "putting her to sleep" which I appreciated. My Ellie has to have a lot of care which requires me to come into Agawa every week (it is October right now) so I have had a lot of time to observe this Vet and her team at work. I can tell you that this Vet cares more about the pets than owners. She is not a people person. Is that a bad thing? Not in my book! I prefer it! She is in no way disrespectful to the owners and is empathic but you just can tell that her priority is the pet. That makes ALL the difference! Her aid, Chris, IS THE people person and is generally the one who speaks to the owner and is religious on follow-up and checking on how your pet is doing. He is knowledgable, pleasant and very compassionate and understanding. He goes out of his way to help the owner care for the pet. I know first hand, I have dealt with Chris the most. Dr. Leis receptionists (one of them is Dr. Leis' sister) are also people persons and animal lovers so the whole team just balances out so well. Dr. Leis has rescued animals everywhere roaming about and she loves her "herd" of Jack Russel terriers! I love it that at times they run around and greet me when I come in. I don't think I will ever get their names straight. Her practice is out of her large residence and currently the office area is being remodeled. It is a very slow process since work on the office cannot happen until the weekend. Some complained that the office and examining rooms weren't pristine...I tell you that I wouldn't care if the floors were dirt. Dr. Leis knows her stuff and makes your pet her main focus. This is a very casual Vet office. I see it more like a country Vet where the animals is treated first and foremost and then discussion is turned to payment. Other Vet offices it is reversed. My ex-Vet's office you were a number. When you finally got into a room, they printed off a sheet you had to sign (a release form) each and every time I came in. I rarely saw the Vet for more than a few minute. It was mostly just the aids who did all the leg work. Cold and quick...roll them in and get their money and then get them out...but very sanitary (said very sarcastically) and clean examining rooms. Note: That release form I signed didn't work with the ex-Vet almost killing my pet. I settled out-of-court with the Vet's company to my satisfaction and will never go back. I agreed not to mention the name. Also note: I boarded Ellie two weeks at the end of September at Agawa because she needed special care while I was gone. Very reasonable rate and Emily and Brandon, the back room caretakers, took excellent care of her.
