Dr. Venier is the best. She helped our Boxer through the last two years of her life with cancer and other difficult conditions. Then, when it was time to do the most difficult thing and put her down, Dr. Venier explained the whole process, offered us as much time and space as we needed, and did the whole thing professionally and compassionately. Even though I fell apart completely, she maintained my dignity and privacy and I am forever thankful for that. And my Ginger would thank her too if she could.
When my fiance and I got our puppy 2 years ago we bought the year wellness plan. We had gotten her fixed and a couple days after, she started acting sick. We took her in, they charged us an insane amount of money and gave us prescriptions to treat her. A couple weeks later, we took her in so they could check her surgery sutures. A couple days later, our puppy showed symptoms of parvo. We took her to the emergency hospital in the middle of the night after she had been throwing up and having bloody stools for three days. They again charged us a huge amount of money and gave us prescriptions to treat her. After she had gotten sick TWICE after being in Banfield, we decided we weren't going to renew the wellness plan and take her to a different veterinarian. When our wellness plan was up in July, we called and told Banfield that we were not renewing our plan multiple times, yet they still charged us. We noticed this months after our plan was supposed to be canceled. We called Banfield and spoke to multiple people about this. We had not taken our dog into Banfield for 11 months after she had gotten sick because we didn't want her to get sick again. The people we spoke to were extremely rude and Banfield will not refund our money they charged us after our plan was up and we told them not to renew it. On top of finding a new veterinarian for our dog and paying for their services, Banfield also got a pretty penny for us even though we had not used their services for 11 months. I will never recommend Banfield to anyone.
OMG! I went in for a health certificate but forgot my Rabies information. So could not complete the appointment. I was given my certificate back for a office call, because they didn't do anything. Today I make an appt., and the Dr. decides to use the certificate anyway for yesterday and not accept it for today. I cancelled my appointment, no WONDER they have such bad ratings. The front staff are rude too! AND, last time my dog went into Pet Smart grooming, it came home with fleas!
COSTS TOO MUCH! This review is not one to rely on for the treatment of your animals as I never ended up taking my kitten there. While I was there, they seemed kind and compassionate towards the sick dog next to me, but that is all I saw as I marched straight out of there when I found out an operation that was $170 TOPS at all other vets that I have contacted, (and I do my homework before I pay for anything) costs a base price of $225. This didn't include the initial visit, any vaccines they require before the procedure and any meds afterwards. They have wellness plans that cost hundreds of dollars a year and might be worth buying if you have a sick pet but in my case, that place was astonishingly expensive for the same exact procedure at other places (I made sure of that as well, since some techniques can be more expensive than others). Trust the review by Meagan below when she says that they charge 2x as much as other places.
We have an almost 10 year old mixed baby girl. We took advantage of the Wellness Days FREE office visit for the heartworm check. While there, we got the Parvo vaccination updated and, it whacked out her immune system within 2 weeks (beware of this, never knew it could happen). I called, a few days after spotting bruises on her inner thighs...she has a history with allergies and, at first I thought it was them returning yet again. They had me take her right in and, discovered that her platelet count was dangerously low. We were given medicine and, told to keep her calm and quiet...which was easy since she had no energy. After visiting every other day for 10 days for bloodwork, we have come to greatly appreciate the kindness they've shown not only to us but to our baby as well. I'll say it again, I highly recommend this Vet for your "kids" because not only are they kind and compassionate, they are also affordable!
