We were referred to Lakeland by the resort we were staying at that didn't accept dogs. Below is a list of things that happened while interacting with them. 1. Miscommunication of hours. We were never told that they were only there to let dogs out at 8am and 5pm. We were also never told that we were only abel to pick up our dog at 5pm on the day of pick up. 2. Miscommunication of care. When asked if the dogs get outside to play. The staff said, oh yes, the first group is out right now, I leave them out for 15min at a time so they can get some energy out. Never were we told this only happens twice a day. This is neglectful. My 10lb dog, cannot be left for 15hours without going to the bathroom 3. Rudeness. When we came to pick up the dog, and learned about the hours/ lack there of, we called the only phone number available (the doctor had posted emergency number). who assured us we had been told the hours and rules and told us to come back at 5pm. when we tried again, this time with more acertiveness, we explained were from 4 hours away, and would like our dog back. we were never told about the hours and we asked if there was something more we could do. Upon finally finding someone to come in (the resort staff made some phone calls for us) the staff that was there was also very rude. Going on about how the hours had been explicitly told to us and that us "outsiders are always so rude." Why would I come at noon to pick up my dog if I had been told I could come at 8am or 5pm to pick her up? If I had been told the hours, I would have come when you were here. i am not purposely trying to ruin your holiday, I would just like my dog back. Then they had the audacity to charge more for a two days stay (I checked Lilly in at 8am sunday morning and got her back monday at noon). On top of that, they assured us we were on a list of people who can no longer board at this facility. "Oh don't worry, that feeling is mutual" we will never again bring our family member to this neglectful facility, and we will make sure that all the other "outsiders" know how rude you are to your patrons. 4. I had layed a blanket out in my dogs living quarters for the weekend so that she would have something from home with her. When picking her up, the blanket was with her food in a storage bin outside her kennel.
Love Dr. Rose and his entire staff! They go above and beyond to ensure the best possible care for your animal, and are kind to the human clients to boot! It's a 45 minute drive for me to get there but well worth it as I haven't found a more compassionate vet in existence yet!!!
